CHRISTMAS. WE are s'tiold Of Christmas and New Year; and we take- this oppor- tunity of expressing to ALL OUR SUPPORT- ERS our sincere thanks for their kind patronage.- Whên to Fishguard some months ago we hardly kitew whether we had come to stay here or hot. but Having received such a hearty support from all classes of the community, we now feel confident that we have come to stay hei"e ~$<?r nasrife^iy.— We have endeavoured to give all our customers every satisfaction, and we shall coatinid t6. giW- prompt and careful atten- tion to all Printing orders entrusted to us in the future. We were very timid indeed in our attempt of bringing out this newspaper, ^jpija!vv&g'*aB,^eMM %thAL a. similar weekly had been published by our predecessor, and that it had not received the support (through some reason unknown to us) a newspaper ought to have Lad in a town like Fishguard. Anyhow, we ventured to bring out the Echo in an entirely new garb, and we are very happy to be able to state that our undertaking has proved a thorough success and every week we are cheered with Ithe result that we never have a single copy ion our hands breach Thursday evening. If it continues to receive the support it lia 'li*tlier! ]d will very shortly be one of the largest circulated newspapers in the of Pembroke. There is art in decorating a shop window, and all riwill- agree that we have many in the town well versed in the art. v I walked the streets for the* purpose of this column, and 1 must congratulate all the'"tradesmen "upon the j very neat appearance which the shop windows generally wear. Williams and Mrs Hannah Richards have a good supply of sweets, oranges, &c. Messrs George, Bennett and Co. have a, large stock of wines and spirits also ales and stouts in casks and bottles. It is needless for me to praise this old establish- ed firm.—-Mrs M. Williams has a nice lot of American apples, oranges, grapes,1 &c." Mrs W. Thomas makes a very neat display of millinery and children's clothing.—Mrs Harries has a good stock of grocery and fruits;, also pipes and tobacco.—Mr W. Slocombe, as usual, has a well-stocked window of confectionery.—Miss Garnon of fruit NI r, has on view a good display; of fruits—Mr E. George has in his shop medicines for all the ills of humanity.—Mr E. Very neat patterns are also to be seen at Mr Geo. Williams's (West- street); Mr L. Williams (High-street); and Mr Rees Morgan (Smith-street). I cannot describe all the trades, &c., in our town, and my friends who do not receive a notice must be charitable. I feel that I have not done my duty to the shops, but space permitteth not any elaborate details. I was pleased to see Mr Ernie Jones giving a turn home. What about his pre- sentation meeting? Mr Edwards, photographer, has a splended assortment of Christmas cards- noted alike for their novelty and attrac- tion. Our football team intend visiting St. David's on Boxing Day to play their return match with that team. I anticipate a victory for our boysfahA flhen they -will have a jolly drive home.
