SIR,—Owing- to the fact that no one appears interested or kind enough to inform most of your readers why the Vicar of Fishguard did not and does not carry out, his threatened libel actions, I beg- to bring before the public the reason and the only reason, which the inhabitants of Fishguard thoughtlessly or intentionally seem utterly to disregard, namely, his extreme old age and ill-health. Is it credible that the people of Fishguard are ignorant of the fact that it would be absolutely necessary for him to attend court personally. LVrhaps indeed it is so, but I venture rightly or wrongly to suppose that those interested' are. not so blindly foolish. To ihose whom he terms his impartial readers." this will explain Mr bitter and invective conduct towards tlWViear. Whether Mr Drew is right or whether the Vicar is right, Mr Drew's r O language inmost inconsiderate. Sir, it is like whipping-and lading a child—a help- less clidd. Why, the old gentleman is virtually dead and done for. I wonder how it Mr Drew lias become.so forgetful of his dignity, and has so far divested him- self of the feelings of humanity as to mock and jeer at a dying fellow-creature. Yours, &c., AN OUTSIDEB. MUSICAL TALENT AT FISHGUARD, To the Editor of the COUNTY ECHO. Si It,—That we have musical talent at Fishguard need not be questioned, as suffi- cient..proof of this was shown on New Year's Eve. J t about 11.30 on Sunday night, two choirs started (as is the custom) to welcome the New Year in by parading the streets and singing, and it fell to my lot to hear the two choirs rendering their songs, therefore I am in a position to give a fair report of their singing, and of the class of music chosen for the occasion. Musical theorists tell us—"If we draw a violin bow across a tuning fork, we should hear what is called music;' and If you shake, a tool box, with nails, &c., yould hear what is called noise." Now, I say that one of these chojrs represented the latter to the extreme. When in High- street, somewhere about Mount rieasant, the two choirs came in contact with each other. One of the choirs commenced by singing some of the beautiful strains from Ilandel; this choir consisted of. some very fine voices, and their singing was very effec- tive, but, unfortunately, they were inter- rupted by the second choir singing* comic songs, and a cracked bell for an accom- paniment. AH I said before thai we have musical talent—I can assure you, sir, that they were delighted with such music. Of course, the first choir very wisely retired But the conduct of the second choir was shameful, and suggests to one, in the name of civility, what will become of us. People professing religion taking part in such a disgraceful gathering on a Sunday night. May I ask our young people to aim at something bettor than that of disturbing the peace of tho town.—Yours, &c., A LOOKEU ON.
