THE CARMARTHEN MURDER. At the winter assizes at Carmarthen on Monday, before Mr Justice Kennedy, George Thomas, 25, an Army Reserve man, described in the calendar as a labourer, was indicted for that he did, on the 19th of November, 1893, at the parish of St. Peter's, in the county of the borough of Carmarthen, feloniously, wilfully, and of malice aforethought, kill and murder one Mary Jane Jones." Long before half- past ten, the hour appointed for the open- mg of the court, a large crowd thronged around the entrances to the Shire-hall, and periodical rushes were made to gain admittance. After the patient hearing of all the old witnesses and some new ones, who gave evidence of a sensational character, the jury, late in the day, brought in a verdict of Guilty," and the judge thereupon passed sentence in the usual form.
