WELSH BAPTISTS' SUNDAY SCHOOL UNION.—FISHGUARD DISTRICT. Thomas, 94 John George. 88; Richard T. George, 81 Wm- Thomas, 73 Benjamin Thomas, 68 Davhl l' G. Thomas, 67. Class II (12 to 16 years of age). Subject, Acts xvi—M. A. Phillips, 82 H. M. Gibbon, 68. Class III (16 to 20 years of age). Subject," .Paul's. second missionary journey"—Win. Davies, 86 Levi Ladd, 74 Annie Lewis, 74; D. J. Evans(Goodwick), 50 E. A. Morgan (Good- wick), 40. Class IV (20 years of age) Subject, Pail's second missionary journey." The names of the successful candidates have not come to hand, but we pu blish the result according to the examination paper—A, 98 B, 98 C, 95 D, 90; E, 90.—Classes I and II were examined by the Rev E. Davies, LIaogloffan; Class III by the Rev J. W. Maurice, Dinas Cross and Class IV by the Re,v W. Griffiths, Mynachlogddu.

I FOitGED BANK OF ENGLAND NOTES. A man named Marino a woman with whom he was living were aires id at St. Lazare Hail way Station, Paris, on a char e of forging notes on the Bank of England. The jiolice have been searching for the male prisoner, under the name of Lanson, for some time past. Marino gave his age as thirty-six, and stated that he lived at 14, Avenue de YVagram, and was a professor of languages. The police commissary and a number of his men proceeded to the house and searched the prisoner's rooms, where they found several negatives of photographs taken of Bank of England notes, as well as a number of specimens of forged Italian notes. Both Marino and his companion were detained at the police station.

AN AWKWARD MISTAKE. An unfortunate gentleman named Voisin has been the victim of a strong resemblance he appears to bear t4) someone else. Voisin instinctively ducked," and it is for- tunate he did so, for the woman had thrown a bottle full of vitriol at his face. The fluid drenched his clothes, burning them and slightly injuring him in one hand. What do you. mean by this ?" lie stammered out as soon as he couid recover him- self. The woman looked at him, and screamed. Good heavens," she exclaimed, "1 have made a mistake!" She was profuse in her apologies, but M. Voisin naturally thought that there are cases where apologies are hardly sufficient, and that this was one of them. On being given into custody, the woman explained that she had mistaken her victim for a man who, after living with her, had deserted her and her two children.

-u- CHARGE AGAINST A MILL MANAGER. At the Salford Sessions, on Tuesday, William Ashworth, manager of the Castletwou Spinning Company, Heywood. was charged with fraudu- lently falsifying and altering items in the books of the company. The accused had been in the employ Of the company thirty years and had been manager avid secretary for seven years. False entries were discovered early this year, and the prisoner at once admitted he had made them. The discrepancies amounted to several thousand pounds. In cross- examination, Mr. Crabtree, one of the directors, stated that the losses were caused by speculations in cotton. If the prisoner's speculations had proved successful, probably the directors would not have complained. The defence was that the prisoner's speculations were made for the benefit of the company, and not for himself, and tbr' there was no fraudulent intent.
