CAERFARCHELL, PEM. PRERENTATION MEETING.—On Tuesday evening the 28th ult, a large assembly gathered at the Cdlvinistic Methodist Chapel, Caerfarchell, to show their respc ct and admiration for the Rev H W Thomas (the eldest son of the Rev T E Thomas, D.D.. Llandovery), who after 15 years faitbfnl pastorship at the C.M. Churches of Solva and Caeriatchell, has now left to take chaige of a new cause at Nantyffyllon, Maesteg. The meeting was presided over by Mr SampFon T Williams, J.P., Tan-yr-al!t, Solra, who biiffly referred in com- mendatory terms to the reverend gentleman, and expressed his deep regret at the lose which not only the two churches,lbut the neighbourhood in general would sustain by his removal. Mr Thomas had bren no mean factor in the public life of the reighbourhcod during the post few years, for, by his unswerving interest, and untiring energy in n alters both political ai d religious, he had won a warm place in the bear's of his neighbours, a ploof of which was to be seen in the manner in ,A i.ich they had J allied together that evening to 1)")' him a parting salute. He (the Chairman) lbhed him evcyy fuvcts-s in his new sphere ot labour. Acting the speakers who spoice in most eulogistic terms of Mr Thomas, and expressed their rrgiet at his removal, were- the following .-The Ileis W M Lewit, (C.M.). Tjllwyd ); T Lewis (I.), Bciea T Davies (B), Solva Mr Thomas (I), Trefgarne IN' Jenkins, M-A St. David's and Metsis H Evans, Caerlarchtil. and Levi Horgan, Fithguaid. Letteis expressing their deep regret at their inability to be present, and that the reverend gentleman was leaving the district, and wishing l.im every success in his new sphere of labour were received from ;1 e following :-Mr Wynford Philippe, M.P., the Rev W Reynolds (the oldest Baptist minister in the county), L T Jonts (I), and J C Jones (B), St Davids, D Phillips (B), Croesgoch, and Hugh Evans, curate-in-charge, Carnedren, as well as others from Mamre, Dinaj and Fishguard district. Mr Samson Williams, Solva, on behalf of Solva church and district, then presented the rev. gentleman with a heavy purse of gold, as a token of the high esteem in which be was held by all classef. Mts JohD, Wtrn, on bthalf of the Caer- farchell church and district, also presented the Tew. gent'.emm with another purse of gold, together with a magnificent g, ld watch and cbain on which Mr Thomas's monogram was exquisitely engraved ar,d inscribed as fellows :—" PieBinted to the Rev II W Thomas on his leaving for Maesteg, after 18 years' useful service at Solva and Caerfarchell, .Pem., with best wishes. October 28th, 1902." Mr Ihomas briefly thanked them for their substantial testimonial and kind wishes, and assured them he would always carry with him an affectionate rrmembronce of the happy years spent at Caerfari- thell and Solva, with the numerous friends he had made there. Throughout the meeting, selections were rendered Ly the Children's Cnoir, for the juvenile section ot the community feel also that by the removal of Mr Tromaa thay are deprived of a bosom friend, and one who hss watched their interests in the capacity of chairman of the It. David's School Board for many years. MrThomaa is a comparati-ely joung man, and an excellent preacher, ai,d may many years be yet spared him to s,3r,Fe his country and dtnominAtion.
