I could not wear stockings of any kind, but had to wrap linen around my feet, which I had to change three and four times a day, owing to discharges. I tried many ointments without success. I therefore gave E'll-Wel a trial, and am pleased to say that I had relief with the first application, and two boxes effected a complete cure, that being eight months ago. Porth PoliceI Court.
Porth Police Court. Thursday.—Before the Stipendiary (Mr. D. Lleufer Thomas), Mr. T. P. Jen- kins, Mr. Wm. Evans, and Dr. T. W. Parry, A PUBLIC-HOUSE DISTURBANCE. Win. Parfitt and Robert Jones, col lien. Tylorstown, were charged with being dTfunk and disorderly and refusing to quit. Mr. E. Bevan Thomas, Ferndale prosecuted. The evidence showed that on the 27th ult. defendants were at the T'ylor's Hotel, Tylorstown. They were very troublesome, and were asked to leave. They went out, but later returned and demanded drink. This was refused and again they were asked to leave the house by the barman. They refused, and the police had to be called in. Defendants threatened the police, and were it not for further assistance added Mr. Thomas, there was no doubt but that the police would have been assaulted. P.O. Cole said that he was called to the house by Mrs. Davies, the landlady, who ordered the defendants to leave in his presence. They continued to be very abusive, and Jones attempted to strike witness, but was prevented by another man. With the assistance of P.S. Grif- fiths they were finally ejected. Mrs. Davies, the landlady, said she had had a great deal of trouble with the de- fendants previously. Both defendants were fined £ 3 each, 1 or one month. THEFT OF A BICYCLE. Evan Lewis, a young married man of Brittania, was fined 10s. for stealing a bicycle, the property of Wm, Jones, col- lier, Ynyshir. It appeared that defendant had im- bibed rather too freely of the cup that inebriates," and while in this state stole the bicycle. The defendant, on the suggestion of the Stipendiary, was taken to a private room, where a, consultation took place be- tween him and Mr. Llewellyn, the Pro- bation Officer. The latter informed the Bench that defendant had promised to give up his Club, sign the pledge, and at- tend Divine service. Defendant took the pledge in open Court, and listened with evident peni- tence to a spirited homily from the liplS of the Stipendiary. DRUNK IN CHARGE OF HORSES. Wm, Burchell, brake-driver, Porth, was summoned for being drunk whilst in charge of a pair-horse brake. P.S. Morris said that he observed defendant had no lights on his vehicle, and subse- quently found that he was quite drunk. When asked to stop he paid no attention to the behest, and the officer ran after the vehicle and tried to nut on the brake, but failed. The horse was eventually brought to a standstill. Defendant denied the charge, but the ?enc n' disbelieving his story, imposed a fine of 20s. CRUELTY TO A HORSE. Samuel Griffiths, Owen Lewis Evan Williams, Dd. Curtis, and Isaac Joiieis, boys,. of Trehafod, were summoned for ill- treating a, horse, the property of the Lewis Merthyr Colliery Company. Mr. Stanley Jones, Pontypridd, appeared to prosecute, Chas. Hill, ostler, said that on the 30th July he saw the five defendants in a field where the injured horses of the Company were kept. He observed them standing near a horse which had fallen into a ditch, and whose jaw had been tied so that the cord penetrated into the flesh. When asked if they were not ashamed of themselves, two of the de- fendants said, "We ought to be." Herbert Phillips said that he saw two of the defendants riding a horse, and saw it fall into a dingle. Upon examina- tion he found that the horse's back was very much grazed, whilst the cord used as a bridle had penetrated into the jaw. All the defendants were fined 10s. each. A FIGHTING COLLIER, Dd. Daniel Roberts, collier, Ferndale, was summoned by Dd. Williams, haulier, in the employ of the Co-operative Stores, Ferndale, for assault. Mr. Horatio Phillips, Ferndale, ap- peared for the complainant, while Roberts was undefended. Complainant said that on Saturday night, 17tli July, his brother had a quar- rel with defendant, and complainant told his brother to go home and not make a bother. About 11.30 the same night, while complainant was going down the road after coming from his employment, defendant came to him and, without any provocation, struck him in the eye. The eye was greatly injured, three leeches having to be applied to it. He had to lose three days' work through it. Dd. John Thomas, Wm. Wi^iams, and Rhys Lloyd, all Co-operative employees, of Ferndale, corroborated. Defendant said that he was going up High Street, on his way home, and saw Williams andj some friend* looking at him, and so lie went on to Williams and asked him why he interfered with him earlier in the evening. Williams said he did not want to make a bother, he would fight the next morning on the mountain for £ 5; but after further conversation they both stood up to one another to fight then, when a gentleman stopped them. They then went up by the Labour Club and fought it out, and it was in this affray that Williams received the injured eye. Cross-examined, defendant said he was not a fighting man. Mr. Phillips produced a poster, where- on defendant's name appeared, declaring a contest between him and another local boxer, but defendant said the contest never came off. John Gower, Samuel Edwards, and Wm. March, Ferndale colliers, gave stories consistent with that of Roberts. The Bench imposed a fine of P,2, or one month's imprisonment. The alternative was preferred, FURIOUS RIDING. Augustus Thomas and John Henry Jones, both of Penygraig, were sum- moned for riding a bicycle furiously on the public highway. P.O. Valance said that on the 30th July, in company with P.O. Cummings he was on duty near the Gething Hotel, Penygraig, when he saw the two defend- ants coming towards him, but when lhomas saw witness he dismounted, doubled round, and cycled away again, £ °^ieS defendant was caught. A fine of los. each was imposed.
