Empire, Tonypandy. The programme this week is one of the best yet submitted. Topping the bill iare the Six Brothers Luck, in their roar- ling farce, Demon of the Cellar." From the time the curtain is rung up until its fall there is not a dull moment. The antics of the Tommy the soldier and Louis the cook are particularly diverting, and keep one on a continual rack of laughter. 'Stanley and Vandyke are also a turn calculated to drive away all thoughts of suicide from the mind. This courting comedy presents many curious features, and the love passages are at times dis- tinctly "striking." Harry Freeman is an entertainer who has won fame on London boards. His songs are all catchy and popular, and there is always the inevit- able refrain. Alfonso Silvano's feats are wrformances to be mentioned with bated Weath. His balancing on the pyramid of -chairs with lighted lamp on his head pro- evoked a queer feeling in one's throat, as also did his balancing on a lighted lamp, playing a mandoline. Henry Bekker is a conjurer with many new and skilful tricks. The Sisters Williams, the first -prize winners in the amateur competition of a few weeks ago, appear in a song- soona, The Flower Girl." Fred Herbert, « vocal comedian, with good songs, and Dolly Golden, a charming dancer, to- gether with the Empiroscope, are other good items on a strong programme. Another competition for amateurs will take place on Thursday, March 17th. This date has been arranged to meet the con- venience of local tradesmen and others who cannot attend the Saturday after- noon competitions.
