WELSH F.C. ATHLETIC SPORTS. The United Garden Party and Sports, held on Thursday last at the Heathfield ground, Wandsworth, under the auspices of the London Welsh Rugby Football Club and the Heathfield Club, proved immensely attractive, and in spite of dull weather great enthusiasm prevailed throughout the many interesting contests. Representatives from the two clubs con- tested for the premier honours in nearly every event, and on the final added results the Welsh led by several points. The principal events won by the repre- sentatives of the Welsh Football Club were the following Tug of War between eight representatives of each club, the Welsh proving easy victors. Relay race, four runners one lap each. This proved the most exciting contest of the day, and after a hard struggle the Welsh quartett proved the victors. 100 yards Handicap, won by D. J. Jones, in smart style. Throwing at the wicket, best Mr. M. Pennant Jones. 100 yards veteran race: 1st, Dr. Pryce Jenkins 2nd, Mr. C. W. Miller; 3rd, Mr. W. H. Watts, a very popular win. The cigarette race was secured by the Welsh, but the Egg and Spoon race fell to the members of the Heathfield Club. Also the latter secured honours for Tennis and Bowls, as well as the two events for boys and juniors. The afternoon's programme terminated by a grand concert and distribution of prizes, held at the spacious marquee that had been provided on the ground, and a long and interesting programme was arranged for the company by the London Welsh Glee Party.
