Notes and News.
Notes and News. Dr. W. Chapman and Mr. C. M. Alexander, the well-known missioners, are visiting Merthyr this week under the auspices of the local Free Church Council. It is doubtful whether these periodical missions by pro- fessional missioners effect any lasting good. In its "Financial Notes" a South Wales newspaper remarks: American Rails are flat." They always were. It was stated at the annual meeting of the North Wales Veterinary Medical Society at Bangor the other day that rooms were already being booked at Carnarvon for the week of the Prince of Wales's Investiture next July. Another Welsh Nonconformist minister for England The Rev. W. Lloyd, of Saron, Tredegar, has accepted the unanimous invi- tation from Oldham Road Congregational Church, Manchester. He is commencing his ministry in the early part of October. It is not expected that the new railway from Lampeter to Aberayron will be opened before the new year. The length of the new line is only about twelve miles, nevertheless there will be close upon half-a-dozen railway stations. Welsh farmers who recently visited Ire- land were astounded at the special privileges and encouragement given by the Govern- ment to the Irish farmers. One of them told a CELT correspondent that it was scandalous how Wales had been neglected as compared with the Emerald Isle. He was more disgusted than ever with the so called Welsh Party." Football is again in full swing in South Wales, and this season there appears to be a tendency towards increased interest and bigger attendances. At Cardiff the Associa- tion game is rapidly supplanting the Rugby code in popular interest. A very fine association ground in which 35,000 people can be accommodated has been laid out, and at last Saturday's Southern League match between the newly-formed Cardiff City team and Ton (Rhondda) there were nearly 10,000 spectators.
