A Manchester View of the "North Wales Weekly News." On Monday morning a gentleman made an early call at our editorial office. He was a resident of Rusholme, Manchester. "Last Friday," he said, "I advertised in the "North Wales Weekly News that I had furniture for sale. The first reply came on Saturday, and, would you believe it, the writer was a lady living in Manchester! It is evident that she takes your paper, and, as far as I can gather, so do many other Manchester people. In fact, it was a Manchester friend who recommended me to advertise in the "Weekly News," and I am glad I accepted his advice."

THE VOICE OF THE rEOPLE.

THE VOICE OF THE rEOPLE. THE JUSTICE of Liberal principles of government is being attested in this elec- tion in a most remarkable and decisive manner. At the time of writing there is every prospect of a magnificent victory at the polls for the Party of Progress, for the People as against the Peers. What does this mean? That the spectacle is being un- folded of the same party, with the same leaders and the same policy, being returned to power in three successive General Elec- tions. Such an exhibition of national sup- port for a cau-se and its leaders has never before been witnessed in the Parliamentary history of our country. What does it mean? The facts sufficiently indicate what it means. The Liberal party which was given such a splendid national vote of confidence in 1906 was compelled, through the uncon- stitutional action of the House of Lords, to submit its policy and record to the icountry again in January, 1910, and was accorded an emphatic renewal of public confidence. In consequence of circum- stances over which it had no control, the same Government found a few weeks ago that custom and honour alike made it neces- sary that they should test whether their policy, the policy which the people endors- ed at ithe beginning of the year, was still the policy which the nation desired to see carried into effect. And the answer which the nation is now giving through the ballot box is strongly and decidedly in the affirm- ative. In a very short time now the Lib- eral Government will return to office and to power with the support of a mandate which is unique in the records of our sys- tem of party government. And they will go back determined that this time, at any rate, the voice of the nation shall be obeyed, that the will of the people shall prevail. Let it be clearly observed that the people have not been "tricked" into giving this third endorsement of Liberal policy. They have voted with their eyes wide open. The issues have been practically identical at three elections, and they have been sub- mitted by the same leaders in almost the same words, and in the simplest and most unequivocal form. Our case has been stated with absolute clearness, and there has been no attempt Ito shift our ground in re- gard to any of the questions involved. What we said in 1906 we have twice said in 1910, and each time we have won. On the other hand, the Opposition have resorted to every conceivable form of misrepresentation in the hope of confusing the issue and pre- judicing the public mind against us, while at the same time they have changed their own policy from day to day, promised every- thing to everybody, unsaid what they had said a few hours before, and in fact given 1 a series of quick-change displays so cun- ning and clever as to astonish the whole world. And yet we are winning-wis-ing for -tter third time in succession. Why? Because this nation of justice-loving people can see right through tc the justice of Lib- cl eral principles. But mark the sequel. Mr. Balfour, the political Duke of Plaza-Toro, who leads his army from behiad, on finding himself hopelessly beaten, is devoting his subtle and ingenious brain to the making of new rules of warfare. It's your win," he tells us, but it doesn't count! Ask him why and his reply will amuse you. You, will," (Continued on page 7.)
