BOY SCOUT NOTES.|
BOY SCOUT NOTES. The members of the local troop speri4 a few hours on the West Shore on Saturday afternoon participating in scouting games iaiii,on- the sandhills. Some signalling was also practised, and a very enjoyable afternoon spent. It has been decided not to have a general camp this year, but a, series of patrol week-end camps will be arranged, particulars of which will be anno-Lilic-ecl, later. The Birmingham Boy Scouts will encamp at Penmaenmawir during' August, and have chal- lenged the Llandudno troop to hold the Great Onme against their tactics on a date yet to be fixed. The Birmingham lads axe- expected to number about 60, and as the challenge has been a,eceptect, the locals should lose no time in polishing up theirscoutin,g knowledge to frustrate the attack. It would never do for the Great Orme to be captured by Birmingham, so smarden up boys-, for the 'honour of Llan- dudno There will be a iTUister this (Saturday) after- noon. and the time will be spent on the 0 me to develop 'the plan of defence. By the way, the Scoutmaster will be pleased to welcome- any scouts who- may be staying in Llandudno and wish tlO take part in 'any of tihe maxches. A postcaix-d, as some of our advertisers say, will receive immediate- atten- tion. The instruments for the Bugle Band are ex- pected next week, and training will at once be commenced.

CRUELTY TO ANIMALS.—At Llandudno Police Court on Monday, Robeirt Roberts, Gor- don Villa, was charged by Inspector Fleming, R.S.P.C.A., with ca-Lising an aged horse to be worked when lamei, and Moses Vaughan, his diriver,, was charged with working the animal. The inspector stated- that horse was suffering from a nold standing injury on the leg and walked with difficulty and pain. P.C. Owen (82) supported tihe charge, but a witness called on behalf of defendant said the animal was as nimble as any other when walking.—It was admitted that the horse was in a good condi- tion.—The magistrates found tihe charge against Roberts proved and fined him 5s. and costs. The charge against the driver was dismissed. Inspe-citor Fleming asked the magistrates to remit the .costs in the latter case, but was not understood by the 'bench.—The Clerk: He wants to know if you will let the Society off paying the oocts and order the county To pay them.—The request was not complied with.— Samuel Pusill, a Deganwy tradesman, was charged by the Inspector with working a löJHe horse on the 29th June, and fined 5s. and costs.
CAN YOU BITE?j
CAN YOU BITE? If so, eat currants during your stay at the seaside. For the sake of your health consider your diet. You require nourishment, and not a great weight of useless food which merely gives a feeling of fulness and taxes the digestive organs to such an extent that suffering is bound to follow. Sir Francis Laking (the King's physician) recommends currants. They are ooneeniir.ated food, full of nutritious matter of the very best kind—grape sugar. Beneath- the skin of the little Greek currant, there lies a wealth of valuable nutriment (over 80 per cent.) and 99 per cent. soluble matter. Currant Bread is delicious and much- more nutritious than the ordinary kind. Anything in the way of food which contains currants is acceptable to all who appreciateolne of Nature's .greatest gifts. j Currams are the treasured sunshine of the glorious climate of Greece. Give them to the children and build their constitutions with Nature's own food. All leading bakers supply Crrxant Breadi, Currant Scones, Currant Bis- cui s. and other currant dainties.

CINDERELLA AT THEI HIPPODROME.!
CINDERELLA AT THE HIPPODROME. Wednesday evening's Cinderella proved a big success both numeaicaily and from a specta- tor's point of view. Upwards of a hundred skaters of both sexes were .on the floor, and some exceptionally clever skating was to be seen; in fact, we have not seen such a number of "Swankers," and we use. the texm in its complimentary sense and not sarcastic, on the floor at one time for a considerable period. The extended half hour was fully utilised, and at no time did the interest. -of the skaters or spectatdrls flag. Like at all -other places of indoor amusement, on this same evening, the. climatic conditions were undoubtedly responsible for the increased atleiidai-ice. and Llandudno is fortunate in having so many, and so varied attractions tot choose from. For the first time in Llandudno we are -to have a Masked Costume Carnival, with a, colifeizi battle added. This latter item is a novelty that. has been highly successful in all rinks where it has been intro- duced. We anticipate a. big muster of costumed participators in the battle, and a crowded (home of onlookers on Wednesday evening next.
