UNIVERSITY COLLEGE OF NORTH WALES, BANGOR. A meeting of the Council of the Univer- sity College of North Wales was held at the College on Wednesday, February 5th, Mr. Henry Lewis, vice-chairman, in the chair. Lord Kenyon was unanimously elected Chair- man of the Council for the ensuing year, and Mr. Henry Lewis, vice-chairman. The Council adopted a resolution of sympathy with the relatives of the late Hon. G. T. Kenyon, who had been a member of the Council for many years and had rendered valuable services to the college. A resolu- tion of the Council's regret at the death of Lord Kelvin, Chancellor of the University of Glasgow, was passed. The usual reports of the Committees were received and the Standing Committees were elected for the ensuing year, the place of the late Mr. J. L. Muspratt on several Committees being taken by Mr. D. S. Davies, of Denbigh, who bad recently been appointed a member of the Council. Mr. Thomas Rea, M.A., at present temporary Lecturer in German, was appointed permanent Lecturer in the subject. FOOTBALL NOTES AND N EWS. 1, I LONDON WELSH 4 GOALS, 2 TRIES. OLD MILLHILLIANS 1 GOAL, 1 TRY. THE match at West Ham on Saturday last was greatly interfered with by the rain that fell, and the heavy wind which prevailed throughout the afternoon, with the re- sult that only a very few spectators turned up to witness the contest. This was the first occasion that the teams had met the Old Boys having been content in the past with games with the Welsh A XV. The visitors turned out their best XV for the game, but the Welsh were playing short of Gwilym Jones, J. S. Davies, J. C. Jenkins and J. A. Davies, but capable substitutes took their places. The Old Boys," having won the toss, played with the wind behind them, and for the first ten minutes of the game they completely beat the Welsh and scored twice through Gundry and Thorn-White Spicer converting the latter try. The Welsh forwards after these reverses went in for the dribbling game, and Clay started a fine one from his own line, which went the length of the field and finally ended in J. F. Williams scoring behind the posts for Harding to convert. With the wind in their favour during the second half the Welsh quickly took the lead. Vivian made a delightful opening, beating man after man and passing to Maddocks at the right moment, the Welsh flyer had no difficulty in crossing for Harding to convert again. From the re-start the Welsh again attacked, and tries were added by J. F. Williams, W. L. Morgan and Maddocks the latter one being the feature of the match the way in which he threaded his way through the Old Boys" was splendid, and will rank as one of the finest tries he has scored for the Welsh. Harding converted two of the last three tries, and the final score read London Welsh 26 points, Old Millhillians 8 points. I am glad the Welsh have again won a match, and I trust they will now continue to improve they have some very stiff fights in front of them in Cambridge, Cardiff, Blackheath, etc. WELSH FORWARD.
