Notes and News.
Notes and News. WILL Mr. Keir Hardie become the leader of the Welsh Party ? THE I.L.P. kicked out four of its leading stalwarts at the Easter Conference. MR. VICTOR GRAYSON has succeeded in his short career to upset the Liberal Party, close the House of Commons to strangers, and wreck the Independent Labour Party. MR. OSMOND WILLIAMS is about to retire, and the Merioneth Liberal Association has been called to elect his successor. MERTBYR is unfortunate in its representa- tives in Parliament this Session. Mr. D. A. Thomas has been indisposed for some time, and he will not be able to resume his duties for some weeks to come, and now Mr. Keir Hardie has resigned his position in the I.L.P., and will have to devote a large amount of his time to journalistic and lecturing work for the remainder of the term. LONDON Welsh Liberals are making arrangements to hold a large meeting at an early date. It is expected that many of the Welsh M.P.'s will be able to attend. SOUTH WALES was very much alive with Eisteddfodau during Easter. The gathering at Abergavenny was an unqualified success, and the local Welsh leaders hope that they will be able to secure the National Eistedd- fod for the district in 1911. MR. MADOC DAVIES was one of the adjudi- cators at an Eisteddfod at Bridgend on Easter Monday. Some excellent singing was heard there, and a very promising young baritone was found in the winner of the baritone solo. It is hoped that the young man may be able to come to London to complete his studies. DR. McNAUGHT, speaking at the Aber- gavenny Eisteddfod, said that it was rumoured among some choirs that the London Eisteddfod test pieces were too hard. That was all nonsense said Dr. McNaught, as most of the choirs he had listened to at local Eisteddfodau could do justice to all the test pieces selected for that great festival. THE Ebenezer Male Voice Party, of Swan- sea, have decided to compete at the National Eisteddfod, in London, and arrangements have been made for securing the necessary money to enable the choir to go to London. It is understood that a large sum has already been promised. The choir will give two concerts a few days prior to their departure for London, to afford an opportunity to the public of hearing the rendering of the test pieces. PROFESSOR T. REES, B.A., of Brecon Col- lege, who has been appointed to the Princi- palship of Bala-Bangor College in succession to the late Dr. Probert, will enter upon his duties at the beginning of the autumn session. Professor Rees has had a successful academic career, and is considered a very good preacher. FOUR Calvinistic Methodist ministers have been appointed chaplains in connection with the Territorial Armv Rev. T. Charles Williams, M.A., R. E. Morris, M.A., David Hoskins, M A and D. W. Howell.
