A CURIOUS SIMILARITY. ;
A CURIOUS SIMILARITY. To the Editor of the Free Press. j Sir,—Permit me very respectfully to invite your f attention to the similarity which exists, where italicised, in the following extracts:- Extract from Mr. William Lewis's presidential address at "The Grand Eisteddfod" at Abersychan on Boxing Day.—Fide Free Press, dated Friday, January 1st, 1892 :— "The Eisteddfod has a great perspective within view, of shaping the charactCT and moulding the destiny of Welshmen; of bringing out patriotic men whose voices will often rino out clear and strong above the mere level of party cries, of developing men whose faces are set with unflagging zeal and earnestness towards the goal, of promoting the moral, social, and intellectual ad vancement of the country, and the expansion of the best and freest institutions in it." Extract from the literary work, entitled William Ewart Gladstone and his Contempo raries Fifty Years of Social and Poli- tical Progress," by Thomas Archer, F.R.H.S. — Vide Volume iv. page 333 ? British temper has occa- sionally appeared to be overbearing, or British i policy has had a temporary look of truckling. But with all these faults Britain has > stood forth in the main as the upholder of truth and justice, as the vindicator of freedom and the claims of i human progress. The voice' of the nation has many a time risen clear and strong above men party cries Oftener still there has arisen a man clear in pur- pose, resolute, and strong, with hili tilce set towards one goal, his life earnestly devoted to promoting with unflagging zeal the moral and political improvement of the country, the advancemen t of free imti~ tutions, and the progress of a higher education." I am, sir, yours obediently, January 5th, 1892. Sic ITUR AD ASTRA. ( Continuation of correspondence on page 6.)
