EXCURSION TO TENBY.—On Thursday last Mr Thomas Jenkins, merchant, of Carmarthen gave his employes a trip to Tenby in one of his own steamers. The party arrived early in the forenoon, and after a visit to places of interest in the town proceeded to the Royal Lion Hotel," where Mrs Bowers had, with her usual care and good management, provided an excellent and substantial dinner, to which forty- seven sat down, Mr T. Jenkins in the chair. Dinner over, to which full justice was done, the pleasant sail across the Bay having in no way acted as a deterent to a good digestion, the health of the "giver of the feast" was duly proposed and honoured in a manner that testified to the popularity of Mr Jenkins as an employer of labour. Some little time was spent in conviviality, then another stroll and thence to the Pier, where the party safely embarked and returned to Carmarthen having thoroughly enjoyed their outing, the success of which was in no small measure enhanced by the successful catering of the hostess of the Royal Lion Hotel." ENORMOUS PUppy.-We have seen a St. Bernard dog puppy at the kennels of T. B. Stretton, Esq., Heywood, five months old whelped on the 5th of March last. On Monday, 5th of August, he weighed 84^1bs. good weight, 25 inches at the shoulder-this is far above the average he is rich orange, with all correct white markings, and takes after Champion Pliulimon, his great grandsire, having Plinlimon's beautiful head, as yet in minia- ture. His price is f200. He is by Oliver Cromwell ex Duchess.—Advt.
