SOUTH WALES FINANCE ri RIDAY, Oct. 19th, 1894. A fairly good amount of business was Jone to-day, but the dealings were mostly In the lighter securities. Local railways were neglected, with the exception of Vale Df Glamorgan Shares and Rhondda and Swansea Bay 4 per Cent. Debenture Stock, the former remaining firm at the previous premium, and the latter being bought at a slight advance. Taffs showed weaker, and there is one transaction recorded at 82%, or less than the previous price. The other rail stocks remained firm. There was a jlight speculative demand for Rhymney Iron New Shares and National Bank of Wales Shares, 7s 6d being given for the latter. There is i rumour abroad that the liquidators are to call a meeting of the shareholders soon to explain the position of affairs, and the ex- pectation in certain circles is that things will not turn out so badly as was at first feared. But this is probably little more than the market gossip set afloat to aid speculators ia the shares. The quotation for Penarth Harbour, Dock, and Railway Stock has been advanced considerably. LONDON STOCK EXCHANGE London, Friday. The position of the Money Market is not altered. Supplies of capital are abundant, and there is but little employment offering for it, eitheras regards loans or discounts. For short loans the charge is per cent. Dis- count business is inactive. Three months' Bank bills are negotiated at f'¡r per cent. Paris Cheque Exchange is 2514,% and Berlin Cheque. 20'36%. The Stock Exchange markets have been dull and irregular in tone owing to anxiety respecting the health of the Czar and Ameer. Closing prices were above the lowest, particularly amongst Foreign Bonds, which received support from Paris, but the general tendency was one of distinct uncertainty. Speculators for rise are more disposed, to lose accounts thon enter into fresh ventures. Consols closed at 101,5g to 101A for delivery and account 2% per Cent. ^Childers'), 101% to 102% 2% per Cent., 39% to 100%. Local Loans Stock, 106% to 107. Foreign Bonds were very flat during the earlier hours, but International Stocks rallied later on buying orders from Paris. Russian, after being lower, closed higher. Italian rose 12 and Spanish Egyptian and Turks quiet, and Hungarian declined South Americans dull. Argen- tines fell to Y2, Brazilians and Uruguay Peruvian were again in demand, and the Debentures advanced Buenos Ayres Gold Premium rose 2 points, to 235. Home Railways continue to be sold. There are no buyers, and frequent offerings f.f stock have promoted a depressed tone. Scotch Stocks, on sales from the North, were distinctly flat. Caledonian Deferred fell rs, and North British Deferred Heavy lines also continued to recede, and were to down. Great Eastern fell nd Barnsley and Sheffield Deferred were lower. Underground lines were dull. As regards Southern lines, Chathams fell o South-Eastern A was lower Brighton A unaltered. A very quiet business was passing in American Railways. There was an irregu- larity about movements in prices, and changes were slight. Atchison A Bonds cell Denver Preference, and Union Pacitics, Milwaukees were unchanged, and Eries remained at 14%. Louisvilles cose Canadian Railways were very quiet. Grand Trunks were unaltered. Canadian Pacific Shares were better. Foreign Railways were quiet. Mexican were weak, and to lower. Pending dividend announcement, very little was done in Nitrates Rails rather easier. Miscellaneous Stocks.—Banks were dull Mid weak. Breweries were firm; Allsopps steady. zErated Bread up, and African Sold Recovery Trusts were flat, and 1 to 1% lower in many cases. The following changes occurred since yesterday :— Foreign Bonds. Fall-British South Africa Chartered fell 9d; City and Suburban, -h Crown Reef, Ferreira, Gelden- huis, h; Gold Fields of South Africa, n Langlaagte, 1-32 Oceana Land, A Sheba, 3d Tharsis, Jg Montana, 6d; Mysore Gold, fg and Mysore Gold Fields, Is. At the Bank £ 2,000 bar gold was sold. Silver dull. Bars fell to 29d. Eastern Exchanges were weak. Bombay Transfers, Is 1 9-32d Calcutta, Is ld Hong Kong, 2s 3%d Four Months, 2s 2d; Shanghai Transfers, 2s 10d; and Four Months, 2s 11 Ys d Yokohama Transfers, 2s l%d Four Months, 2s 2d; Singapore, 2s 2d. Rupee Paper, 56%. The Cheque Bank prospectus has been very favourably received by the public. As there is a keen demand for shares, closing prices to-night found strong buyers at 2% to 2% premium Ordinary, fg to premium.

GLASGOW, Friday.—There was a rather better feeling in the Glasgow corn market to-day for wheat a shade more money was asked flour, however, remained unchanged. Maize was a shade steadier good mixed American, 13s 3d to 13s 6d per 2801bs round, lis id to lis 6d. Barley, beans, and peas quiet but oats were a trifle improved. LIVERPOOL, Friday.—Wheat fair trade at fully %d over Tuesday No. 1 Californian, 4s 7%d to 4s 8d No. 2 winter, 4s 2y.jd to 4s 3%d; No. 2 spring, 4s 5%d to 4s 6%d. WAKEFIELD, Friday.—There is a firmer tone in the wheat trade, but up to the present buyers are very reticent. Consequently there is very little business passing, holders requiring full prices all round. Malt- ing barley in good supply as far as common sorts are concerned, but the enquiry for such is extremely limited lino sorts being scarce meet a ready sale at late rates. CATTLE. ROATH (Cardiff), Friday.—There was a moderate supply of cattle on offer at our market to-day. chiefly Irish, of a middling description, choice cattle being scarce. Sheep and lambs were not so plentiful but trade was quiet, and there was plenty for the require- ments. There were no calves on offer. Pigs were a short supply, prime small being scarce. Quotations :— Cattle—best steers, 56s to 58s per cwt. secondary lots, 52s to 54s per cwt. rough cows and bulls, 40s to 48s per cwt. sheep—prime yearlings, 7%d to 8d per lb. ewes and heavy shoep, id to 7d per lb. lambs, 8d to 8%d per lb. pigs-baconers, 8.s 6d to 8s 9d per score porkers (heavy weights), 9s 3d to 10s per score small weights, 10s 6d per score sows, 6s 3d to 7s per score. CARDIFF EXCHANGE. BUTE DOCKS. FRIDAY. The coal market to-day exhibited no new feature. There was a moderate demand for first- class steam coal at lis 6,1 to 11s 9j, seconds at 11.; to lis 3d, and dry coal at 10s to 10s 6d. The house coal trade was brisk, and last prices were firmly maintained. Coko ranged from 17s to 18s, according to quality, and thre was no alteration m pitwood quotations. In our local freight market outward steam chartering was fairly active. Mediterranean freights showed further improvement, and in some instances higher rates were paid than have ruled for some time. Coasting and Bay freights were dull, and other markets wore unchanged. The following comprise the latest operations re- I ported Genoa, 5s 3d, clean (Watlington). A CAPTAIN'S FUNERAL. The funeral of Captain Cureton, aged 28, of the 4th Hussars, who shot himself on Tuesday, took place tins morning with full military honours at the Camp Cemetery, Aldershot.
