ONLY A LITTLE. —A FRIENDLY WARNING. ONLY A LITTLE COLD, and a. little cough, and only neglected for a while it will lead to Bronchitis, Consumption, and the grave. Only take a regular course of GWILYU EVANS'S QUININE BITTERS at the start, and the threatened dangers may be averted. ONLY A LITTLE PAIN in the stomach, a little less taste for food, a little feeling of heaviness now and again, are the first symptoms of Indigestion and Dyspepsia. Only take GWILYU EVANS'S QUININE BITTERS in time, and every meal you take can be thoroughly enjoyed. THE LAST SUNSET.
THE LAST SUNSET. My heroine is not a maid of high degree and wealth, But just a fisher's bonnie lass, bright eyes and hue of health. Tho' ev'ry day hard labour brought, still light of heart was she, Altho', perhaps, one little cloud o'ershadow'd her. You see, Her father lov'd his boy and girl, the* he was stern of mien, And sometimes seem'd too hard on Dave, yet was not so, I ween. Nesta bor brother lov'd the more, and strove his faults to hide, And boasted of his merry ways with all a sister's pride. The sun was sinking in a blaze of glory bright and great, When some one crept a-near—she was standing at the gate. She started, 'twas her brother, and his face was ashen gray; "Nesta, I've come to say good-bye—oh ask me not to stay. I dare not think what deed I've done—Dick Hughes and I, you know, Were always foes; we quarrell'd—fought—I gave a savage blow, I know not if alive he be—but this I know for sure, That I must hide—must leave you all—must ne'er be seen here more. And Nesta promise—swear to me—that you will never tell That you have spoken with me now." But Dave, it is not well To flee-to hide-as tho' you felt a coward's craven dread." Nesta, I must be gone, I say. God help me-he is dead." With solemn oath and pallid face she saw the lad depart; Nor she alone, for from afar, one nearest to her heart Had seen him, too, had seen their kiss—their pas- sionate farewell. "Nesta, who dared to kiss your lips—who is he— quickly tell ? Reuben, I may not tell you now, I ask your faith and trust." But jealousy within him raged. "Tell me, you shall—you must." "Is this your love—is this your trust? You've known me from a child, Yet falter at this little test, with angry words and wild." "A 'little test!' to see another's kisses on you press'd We'd better part." "I think so too; I'm sure 'twill please me best. He turn'd away and angry thoughts within him rag'd amain; But when he saw the setting sun, he turned back again. "Let not the sun upon our wrath, my dearest love, go down; I will not doubt thee; only say, thou art my very own. Dear kiss Jie and forget the words in anger that I spoke. She coldly turn'd her head away—her heartwas like to break. You doubted me! I can't forgive—some day per- haps I may." And Reuben, as the sun went down, walk'd, sadly slow, away. The little fishing fleet went forth that night, and Reuben, too; He watch'd, but saw no kindly hand wave him a fond adieu. He thought how Neata, from a child, had aye been there before— Had kept in sight, as long as ever he could see the shore. In the dread night a storm arose, and one by one appear'd The wives and sweethearts of tho men—they said not what they fear'd, But silently, hour after hour, they upon the sea. In ev'ry heart the same deep pray'r, Lord, send him back to me." And Nesta, standing just apart, all grief and anger gone, Was praying as she ne'er before, morn, noon or night had done. And 'mid the watchers stood Dick Hughes—the blow had stunn'd, not kill'd— Which David might have known had not his heart with fear been fill'd. No solemn oath—no jealous doubts—but for that guilty fear And now remorsefully she looks for him she held most dear. She might have kept her oath, and yet his hard words have forgiv'n, (His provocation had been great) if with her pride she'd striven Hour after hour, but all in vain, she prays. Again the sun Goes down—it sets upon her life that trav'Iling days" arc done. OSBORNE WILLOUGHBY.

--'-'------THE CHOLERA IN…
THE CHOLERA IN SPAIN. Dr. Candela, an eminent physician of Valencia, returned to that city from Puebla deRugat, last week whither he had gone to investigate the choleraic outbreak. He has visited (says a Central News telegram from Madrid) most of the sufferers, and declares that all the symptoms show that the disease is Asiatic cholera. The attacks are as violent as if the malady had been imported directly from its supposed home. Every possible precaution in the way of isolating those affected from the other residents has been taken by the authorities, and sanitary arrangements appear to be, on the whole, satisfactory. Official reports state that since the outbreak of the epidemic in Puebla de Rugat no fewer than ninety-one deaths have occurred there. Nine more peisons were attacked yesterday, four of whom have died. The disease has spread to Albaida, Palma, and Astor, all in the province of Valencia.
PANIC IN A MEDICAL SCHOOL.
PANIC IN A MEDICAL SCHOOL. A panic occurred last week during a lecture on anatomy delivered by Professor Kundrath in t Vienna. The room was packed with students, who were all suddenly seized with a fit of coughing and sneezing, and incipient faintness. A rush was made to the exit and everybody escaped unhurt, but all the students and the professor himself felt vexy ill afterwards. It has been ascertained that this sudden attack was duo to a door being opened which communicated with:an adjoining laboratory, whence there wad an evaporation of corrosive sublimate gases.
A SENTIMENTAL MURDERER.
A SENTIMENTAL MURDERER. Herr Gruettner, a wealthy retired merchant, of Neuenberg, West Prussia, murdered his wife last week, laid the body out on the bed, covered it with beautiful flowers bought for the purpose, and then gave himself up to the police. A Dalziel's telegram states that Gruettner, who was otherwise perfectly reasonable, had a fixed idea that he and his wife would be rendered destitute. Being devotedly attached to her, he resolved to preserve her from poverty. After fracturing her skull with a hammer while she lay asleep in the morning, he cut her throat. ———i
