The winner in Ihe class at tho Shire Show last year (Gaer C'on- rIUejy>r) Was sold at t he sale for 825 guineas, and this was, champion stallion of the show. h "o feel that our county is much favoured in 'aving such a great horso all; Marden J:unesim to ;1 it, ancj j, is honed it will hob- to stay the 'i<o <>f agricultural depression whicl s long has "running out.

EYRE EVANS, Aberystwyth, secretary of the Carmarthen Antiquarian Society, whose knowledge of the by-gone days of the JorBSAL and of the county generally is unique-; the Rev. EILBJ EVANS, our foremost living Welsh literateur. whc,il- i deal with the subject of the Church in Wales d||fing the eighteenth century; Air. G. A. HRTCHLNS, a former proprietor of the JOURNAL, who will have much to say of interest about Carmarthen a quarter of a century ago; Mr. R. At. THOMAS, who was for many years the able and esteemed Town Clerk of Carmar- then, and whose delightful literary style, as demon- strated in his charming novel, "Trewern," is still fresh in the memory of our readers; the Rev. The Editor cordially invites the readers of the. JOURNAL to send him for publication in that issue,, under their signatures, brief communications deal- ing either with the connection of this paper and. with the history of the locality, with their own re- collections of interesting local events, or any other matters which might go to form a chatty and inter- esting symposium suitable to the occasion. Many of our readers' must have a great store of intere.sting anecdotes and reminiscences which might very happily be made public just now. and which the Editor will be very pleased to accept. The most careful inquiries have so far failed to. discover a copy of tho first number of the CARMAR- THKN JOURNAL, although complete bound files from, 1810 were known to have been preserved up to a few years ago. If, at this late hour, any reader should find trace of the. earliest issue, the Editor will feel. glad to hear of it at the earliest possible moment. Orders for extra, copies of the Centenary Issue and. for Advertisements to appear in it should be sent immediately.
