DISTRICT NEWS. CADOXTON. THEATRE ROYAL.—" Donnybrook," as repre- sented at the Cadoxton Theatre this week, is a play of great attractions, most amusing, and en- livened here and there with Irish songs and jigs. The characters are, without exoeption, Irish, and reproselit all that is good and bad in the old coui.try, the land of love and rebellion, and of song and curses. Some bad and good English blood is also to be found in the piece, which is of a most acceptable order throughout. FATALITY AT BARRY. TERRIBLE DEATH OF AN ENGINE bTOKER. GENERAL REGRET & SYMPATHY. We deeply regret to record that \) ge> era ly anticipated and expressed in ihtse columns last week, the young man, Elward Williams, "h. 18 terrible accident was repnried at the tame time, died on Thursday eve, illg at the Kig.-land- crescent Acccident Ward. He remained uncon- scious to the end, all medical skill being unavailing. It will be remembered that he had his left leg cut off by the engine, his right foot crushed, and other t'rrible injuries to the head and b(dy. When the time came for the train to start and d'ceased did not appear, enquiries were made and then a search. The s. arch resulted in finding the deceased between the four-foot, terribly injured. Dr P. J. O'Donnell described the in. juries, and the jury returned a verdict of Acci- dental Death," and added that deceased mus have been kuocked off the engine by the load-guage. THE FUNERAL. This took place on Monday, when the attendance of a very large concourse of people testified to the great esteem and respect in which the deceased young man was held. The members of the Barry Glee Society attended in large numbers, and wore white chrysanthenums in memory of their com- rade, who had with them shared their glory in the Welsh National Eisteddfod success this year. The Rev W.Tibbott officiated, and when inside the Cemetery Chapel, the choir sang Hushed in death," an appropriate composition for, the sad occasion, Messrs John Jones and.Son had charge of the arrangements, which were in every respect complete and satisfactry. SAD CIRCUMSTANCES. Unfortunately, attending the death of deceased aie many exceptionally sad circumstances. The deceased was about to be married at Christmas to a deserving lady, who is with his parents, extended profound sympathy. A brother of dee. ased is also at the piesent time laid up with scailet fever, while another has returned from South Africa suffering from a spinal disease, causing him to be a complete invalid. Deceased was a member of Tabernacle Welsh Independent Chapel, and by his exemplary character and geniality, had won the regard of everyone with whom he came in contact.
