'Abergavenny made their first visit to Ebbw Vale on Saturday, when glorious weather prevailed for tlw match. The asylum town team invariably play their games at home, so that it is looked upon as m honour when they play on a strange ground. Mr. Irish, the Vaiian secretary, however, would not be lienied, and after prolonged negotiations, was suc- tessful in getting this crack team to make the jour- fcey. There was a splendid attendance in the held, but there was the usual bunch of "mean sportsmen, who prefer viewing the game from the eminence close to the ground, where their pockets are not afl'tcLed. S. H. Irish and H. J. Wright opened the batting for Ebbw Vale to the bowling of Childs and lames. The scoring was slow, both batsmen playing im the defensive, and helping themselves to a few tuns off stray balis. When he had scored 6 Irish was Lowled by a splendid delivery of Childs. An interesting experiment in schoolboy train- ing is being undertaken by the Gas Light and Coke Co., in conjunction with the London County Council. The company will erect a workshop supplied with gasfitting plant, and provide instruction every six months to twelve boys, and the Council will give lessons at the Westminster Technical Institute on two or three afternoons weekly., in mechanical draw- ing, etc. After six months tie boys wiU go out with the gasfitters.

The announcement that His Majesty the King has been ordered by his medical advisers to resumo cycling, which he dropped a couple of years ago, has been widely commented upon, and people who believe in healthy out- door exercise have taken the King's case as an example to prove their theory. Kinr- Edward possesses three Humber tricycles, and it was his habit to keep one at Buckingham Palace, one at Saoidringhani, and the third at Wind- sor. One of these has recently been returned to Humber. Ltd., Coventry, and has been com- pletely overhauled and renovated for His Maj- esty's use. The King's Humber has three equal- 26in. wheetc,, shod with lgin. wired on Dunlop tyres. A tree wheel is fitted, and a gear of 58in., which many cyclists will con- sider low, particularly in combination with the 7in. cranks which the King- uses; bub it must be borne in mind that the object is comfort and mild exertion, rather than great speed, so that the low gear will be very suitable for the purpose for which this tricycle will be used by its Royal owner. The King affect- a large sund very comfortable saddle—a Brock's B., 90 size 3. The handle-bar is 13in. wide, of raised1 pattern, and rubber pedals are fitted. Two brakes are provided, both hand applied by ex- ternal levers; one is a rim brake on the front wheel, the other a band brako on the rear axle. A most useful stand was made by the pair, and some good cricket was seen. The fielding was very keen. A double change of bowling was tried, Dai Davies and Williamson tak- ing the ball, and it was immediately effectivo. Dai Davies was in excellent form, keeping a perfect length, and varying the speed.
