'Abergavenny made their first visit to Ebbw Vale on Saturday, when glorious weather prevailed for tlw match. The asylum town team invariably play their games at home, so that it is looked upon as m honour when they play on a strange ground. Mr. Irish, the Vaiian secretary, however, would not be lienied, and after prolonged negotiations, was suc- tessful in getting this crack team to make the jour- fcey. There was a splendid attendance in the held, but there was the usual bunch of "mean sportsmen, who prefer viewing the game from the eminence close to the ground, where their pockets are not afl'tcLed. S. H. Irish and H. J. Wright opened the batting for Ebbw Vale to the bowling of Childs and lames. The scoring was slow, both batsmen playing im the defensive, and helping themselves to a few tuns off stray balis. When he had scored 6 Irish was Lowled by a splendid delivery of Childs. Ca. vana^h joined Wright, and the spectators were treat- ed to good cricket. Wright, after putting together i weii-carned 15, got in front of his wicket in at- tempting to play Wildblood to leg. Helpless for 13 Years. ZAM-BUK RESTORES USE OF ARM AND CURES ABSCESSES AND CHILDREN'S ECZEMA. Mr. William R. Pickles, a master carter, of 1 31, A\ ilbrahara-place, Scotland-road, Liverpool, who is well known about the local markets, gave a Liverpool reporter a graphic a.cconnt of wonderful benefits obtained from Zam-Buk. "Thirteen years ago I was working as a ship's rigger," said Mr. Pickles to the Pressman, "on the Mississippi, at New Orleajis, Louisiana, U.S.A. I went to bed one night with a slight pain in the upper part of my right arm. When I awoke next morning my arm was swollen to an enormous size. I went to the City Hospital, but after three operations I was discharged as incurable. The British Consul at Orleans then • <T u ass'sted me to get back to Liverpool. "I had now lost all tne use of my arm. What was worse, abscesses were continually forming on the arm causing me terrible pain. I went first to the Liverpool Northern Hospital, and then into the Leeds Infirmary in December, 1897. I underwent further operations, but after I had been nine months in this infirmary I was told that my arm would have to come off. Ab- scesses continued to form, and nothing seemed able to heal them or give me ease from the terrible pain. "As Zam-Buk had cured me of piles I began to think that there must be some extraordinary healing power in Zam-Buk, so I decided to give this rare balm a chance on my poor old arm. From the trial application I got much relief. The swelling gradually subsided and finally a piece of bone, about an inch long, forced its way through the skin. The abscess then rapidly disappeared. Zam-Buk healed, up the lacerated flesh P-fe-etly, and I now got back the use of my arm, after 15 years' absolute helplessness. "My four children's faces were terribly dis- filPJisd by eczema. We tried Zam-Buk again, and all four children were soon completely cured. Is it any wonder that we are so enthu. siastic about Zam-Buk?"

An interesting experiment in schoolboy train- ing is being undertaken by the Gas Light and Coke Co., in conjunction with the London County Council. The company will erect a workshop supplied with gasfitting plant, and provide instruction every six months to twelve boys, and the Council will give lessons at the Westminster Technical Institute on two or three afternoons weekly., in mechanical draw- ing, etc. After six months tie boys wiU go out with the gasfitters.

A most useful stand was made by the pair, and some good cricket was seen. The fielding was very keen. A double change of bowling was tried, Dai Davies and Williamson tak- ing the ball, and it was immediately effectivo. Dai Davies was in excellent form, keeping a perfect length, and varying the speed.
