The late Mrs. D. W. Davies, Matssyffcwd. Funeraj Obsequies. The funeral of the late Mrs. Catherine Davies, the beloved wife of County Coun- cillor D. W. Davies, J.P., Maesyffrwd, Tonypandy, whose lamented death we reported last week, took place on Monday last, the interment being at Zoar Burial- ground, Ffrwdamos. The day being fine, there was a large gathering of people, and signs of mourning were everywhere notice- able along the route to deceased's last resting place. A short but impressive service was held at the house, conducted by the Rev. J. Nicholas, Moriah, Tony- pandy, after which the coffin was borne to the hearse, and the cortege proceeded on us way to the churchyard for the final rites. A service was held at the chapel, in which the Revs. J. Nicholas, M. H. Ellis (O.M.), E. Richards (C.), and Dl. Davies (B.) took part, and paid high tributes to the many virtues of the deceased. The mourners included: -First coach- Mrs. Edward Lloyd, Penygraig, Mrs. Gwen Williams Penygraig (sisters), Mrs. Raymond and Mrs. Tom Morgan (nieces); second coach—Mrs. D. W. Richards, Mrs. w. W. Richards and Mrs. J. W. Richards (daughters-in-law), Miss Dora Richards (granddaughter), and Mrs. Jones Llan- dovery (sister-in-law); third coach—Mrs. Morgan, Butcher's Arms Hotel, Peny- graig. Mrs. Protheroe, Porth, Mrs. Gabe, Treherbert, Mrs. Phillips, Penygraig, and Miss Dora Williams, Penygraig; fourth coach-Mrs. Mezelia Williams, Tony- pandy, Miss Bessie Williams, Tonypandy, Mrs. Rees, Pontycymmer, Mrs. Lloyd, Pentwyn, Tonypandy, Mrs. Watkins, Ton- yrefail, and Mrs. Catherine Annie Evans, Tonypandy; fifth coach-Mrs. Smith, Tonypandy, Mrs. Tom Williams, Tony- pandy, Miss Annie Evans, Tonypandy," Miss Richards, Tonypandy, and Mrs. Robt Collier, Tonypandy j sixth coach—Mrs. Thomas, Maesteg, Mrs. Lloyd, Maesteg, Miss Jennie Cosslet, Tonypandy, and Mrs. Jenkins, Penygraig; seventh coach- Miss Davies, Pwllisaf, Dinas, Mrs. Over- ton, Dinas, Mrs. Isaac Morgan and tne Misses Jones, Aberkenfig; eighth coach-Mrs. Rhys Williams, Fforch Farm, and Mrs. Henry Williams, Treherbert. The chief mourners who walked behind the hearse to the burial place were,- Messrs. D. W. Davies (husband); D. W. Richards, Rev. W. W. Richards and Mr. J. W. Richards (sons); Rev. Dr. John Thomas, Liverpool (son-in-law); Mr. Wm. Thomas, Penygraig (brother); Mr. David Richards and Mr. Ed. Lloyd (brothers-in- law); Masters Willie, Trefor, Dillwyn, and Ivor Richards (grandsons); Messrs. Tom Richards, Tonypandy Reynold Rich-' ards, Newport; Robert Collier, contractor, Tonypandy; Emrys and Willie Rich- ards, Tonypandy; Tom Morgan, builder, Penygraig; Willie Morgan, ditcher's Arms Hotel, Penygraig; Pro- theroe, Penygraig; Gabe, schoolmaster, Ireherbert; and Phillips, grocer, Peny- I graig. The only daughter, Mrs. John Thomas, Liverpool, was prevented from attending the funeral through indisposi- tion. Among the general public present were the Revs. E. Edwards, J. Nicholas, Danl. Evans, ■Noah Meredith, Willie Llewellyn (Tony- Pandy), Morris Morris (Ferndale), Evan Williams (Clydach Yale), John Davies tFonypandy), J. Kinstley, J. Cox W. Morgan, Albert Treharne (Ynysfeio), J^ayid Jones (assistant overseer), G. H. omith (Bailey's Estate), James Evans, ~-C. (Clydach Vale), Isaac Griffiths (Post ^ffice, Clydach Vale); Howell Llewellyn vRrynawel, Trealaw), Jack Llewellyn vTydraw), John Davies (Gelli Farm), Isaac Protheroe (Bridgend Hotel), Evan Rich- (Pentwyn, Tonypandy), D Charles (builder), T. Morris (Swan Hotel, Peny- Sraig), etc. The body was enclosed in a double shell, With an outside oaken casket of Welsh oak, with silvered mountings. The arrangements were under the supervision Messrs. J. Griffiths and Sons, funeral furnishers, Tonypandy.
