The citizens afterwards forced a corner, and Jack Williams drew first üLood, landing a beauty into the net. Thin apueared to liven matters up a littv. and the Amateurs made good attempts to equalise, and secured two corners in quick succession, which, however, the* failed to convert. The Ban goriana again pressed, but J. U. Jo nee I proved a stalwart defender, and repulsed the attacks of the visitors in splendid style. Alder- son eventually broke away and dispatched a beauty to Ted Owen, who proved aqual to the occasion. Corners were afterwards frequent, and when the whistle blew for half-time the score stood; Bar,or, one: Llandudno, nil. Upon resuming LL-indudno pressed, and under SrdioKry cdrciwurtanoes ought to faaye soored. After some-midGeld play the citizens made a. determined attack, when T. J. This appeared to rouse the AmateUns, who pretEod hard, and Johnny Williams tried a weU judged shot, which vvaa saved in splendid stylo by the Bangor ctwtodian. The preswire was, however, kept up until Alder- son got possession and patced to Cheetham, who scored the first goal for Llandudno. The citizens, however, were not long before t;,cy transferred play to the other end of the ground, where W. 0. Griffith put in number three for them. This again inspired the Amateurs, who made another rush on the visitors' goal, when Cheetham soored. Soon after Johnny Williams sent a terrific shot <J.h"8.ii1.<;t. the crossbar. Tho Amateuns made determined attempts to IL 4o, r and succeeded in keeping the play well within tho visitors1' territory. CONWAY v. HOLYHEAD RESERVES ONM SIDED GAME ON THE MOIU-'A. A 7-1 nUTORY. The long-anticipated return League lixturc between Conway and Holyhead was played on the ground of the former last Saturday. Cup- tie engagements had, on three or four occasions, precluded the fulfilments of promises on the part of the Islanders, and the match had been all but abandoned. The circumstances under which it was now played were anything but L6 factory. Holyhead had two League tti,(,etingc to account for on the same day. At hon?,o. the-; turned Out an eleven to do battle against Col- W\ï1 Bay whilst another team had to be provided for the journey to Conway. This was un- fortunate from more than one point of view. In the tirist place the original side had perforce to be disorganised. This division of forces necessarily weakened the attack in both eases, and when it became known that the complete tram which had so severely defeated the :'Blues" at Holyhead, a few weeks ago, would not turn out for the return game there was keen dis- appointment at" Conway. The homesters had piusued a vigorous period of training, and their ranks had been strengthened with the sole object of avenging the result. The home supporters were, if anything, "till mere dis- appointed for they hopefully looked forward 10 seeing at least a sterling game. That there were only two or three of the original Holyhead eide in Saturday's eleven was therefore a bouroe of general diis^atisfaction. The visitors were assisted by four Llanrwst men—and, by the way. they were the strongest quartette that. could be chosen from the valley town. coniol" (at hack) and Taylor (inside Light) were the two who figured it- I the team who pre- viously met Conway. Despite these alterations and omissions, however, tho visitors were a formidable side, and the fact that they were so severely beaten war, not due so much to their own inferiority as to the splendid manner in which the Blues set about their work. Not at any time throughout the season have the home eleven been seen to such advantage. Several changes had, a<s already indicated, been made in tho personnel of the team. Nevertheless, they worked with the automatic precision and effect of those who had played together fox nlc, li,t li,. The forwards dribbled and passed with delightful skill at times; the halves were at once courageous and resourceful: Jones and Jih;, at back, were in their very best form (which is saying much), and little Lkw. made but one mistake from beginning to end. Ond could not but wesh that the visitors were at full strength. THE GAdE. Holyhead won the tos.=s, and opened the game with the wind at their bach-. Conway were soon on the aggressive, and Conum wa penalised for a foul. The kick was fruitless. E. Saunders netted fioon afterwards, but he was ruled off- side. Pretty play between W. Saunders a.nd Joe Williams forced Finehct: to nut over from •Saunders (junior). At this stage Bob Owen was "held up" for a foul, bin the penalty availed his opponents little, the visiting backs being far up to take advantage of the opportunity. A few minutes later Bob wai pla-v- ing brilliant football—opened out a glorious chance, which K. Saunders speedily availed him- self of. Fineiiott being beaten all the way at a tolerable range. Tho visitors rallied, and soon forced a, corner. The flag kick was well centred, and Llew cna-de an obvious error in trying to list clear with one hand, the ball skipping over his knuckles into the desired haven. qci! was thus even. Conway were not long gaining the lead again a dashing for- ward attack ending with a delightful sroaf from Saunders (major). The Blues kept" up the pressure, and Holyhead were penalised again it, in for fouling. From the penally kick Atherton worked up. and drove in a beaut,v at. Finchett but ihe leather turned oil a trifle wide, A TALE OF GOAIA Then K Saunders got into position once more and defeated Fincheit for the second time this being tho Blues' third point. The visitors struggled gallantly for supremacy, but, lhanke to the industry of rhe couple at their rear, Con- way found little difficulty In holding their own. Once more the blue jersicti danced in FLnchet-t's vicinity, and before' the Rooster had time to realise what had happened Saunders (major) had captured his not with another rasping shot. Joe realise what had happened Saunders (major) had captured his not with another rasping shot. Joe Williams experienced the worst of luck, a. few (mÔd afterwards, a territic drive misfiin™- tho not by inches only. homesters were at this point—as they were indeed throughout the game—far and awa." the better team. Joo Wil- liams "made rings" round the doughty (,'oulan. Atherton also "stood up'' to his man in manly fashion, and it was he who accounted for Con- way fifth goal. Just before half-time L. H. Roberts was obliged to leave the field—the re- sult of a collision with a visitor. Duriug" his absence the l,lat)cle ,Sl right got. into action" but a spirited attack ended when the leather cleared the bar on the wrong side. At the interval the scores were: Conway, 5; Holyhead, 1. "L. 1I." returned soon after the'game had I been resumed. Conway wore again quickly in evidence, and before long Joe Williams forced a corner off Trevor. Tho ball struck the poet with Finchett out of his placo. Another business- like attack was made by the homesters, and Finchett capitulated to a beautiful drive from Joc, but Referee Herseo Tuled against him for eomo infringement, which escaped the writer's eye. The visitors then got away on I L tho right., Taylor leading the van in merry fashion, but the ensuing shot flew over tho net. Thereafter Conway kept up an incessant attack. Conlu.n and Trevor worked like tho really in- dustrious .men they are. but they were repeated- Iv beaten. The home attack was undeniably keen, and. but for trifling errors at the crucial mo merit, they must have added at least six more goals before the call of time. As it was they aga,in scored twice. The sixth point came frvrn Saunders (major), after a great struggle in the goalmouth, and Atherton accounted for the seventh. The final score thus read: Conway 7; Holyhead, 1. Tho teams wore:- Conway: blew. Parry; Tom Jones and Ellis; Llew. Pritc-hard, Bo.b Owen, and W. Jorie's; Atherton, L. H. Roberts, E. Saunders, W. Saunders, and Joe VVilliamfi. Holyhead: Finchett, (Llanrwst); Conlan and W. Trevor Joncv. (Llanrwst); T. Thomas, Dei Thomas (Llanrwst), and Francis Williams (Llan- rwst); J. Jones, Taylor, 11. D. Evans, II. Jones, and G. Edwards. Mr T. Robinson, chairman of the club com- mittee, said it was a proud privilege to see. both the cup-, on the table. The past, season had been very succea-ful. He had been conncctca wil¡ football in the town [or sixteen years, and he had never known a. team, which had never lost a match on its own ground. lIo hoped thoy would continue that successful career, and that the time might com-c when they would see a Welsh Cup in their midst (applaus"). On lie- half of the committee he expressed regret at tho absence of their president, who was ono of tho 'l>est:men in the town (applause). There wero very few gentlemen who took an intercut in everything, but they heard of Mr Storey in every movement doing good and iioble deeds. THE CLUB TOASTED. Mr Tilby proposed tihe toast of the club ar.,J committee, coupling with it the name of the chairman of the committee. The Rhyl yicB,, he sand, was the club winch could fairly, truly and safely be eaid to be tlie Rhyl elub. IIo was opposed to proleissionaitsm in sport (applause). lIe was of opinion that sport sthould be one of the reerea-feione and nN the business of life. It should bo ono of tlioco things which helped to give them patriotic and nuimiioipal tipirit, and he wao confident that a lairgo part cf the SUCCCPB of tiie club was duo not so much to their football skill though that was gtreat, as ho that spin's, of keen intcireat in their work, that spirit of keen oonuradcdi1 p ard tlyi.fc spirit of dotcrmi- nriixiein to wan foT taie honour of the town to which lihey bolcri,ge>d (applause). Ho would raither s<X) a viliiage nfflftch, [>la.yed by teams not having much t.echmcal skill, but playing for the honour of then village, tJ.an he would OOJa. League final. He did not agree that trhre 0011 Id be too many clubs in Rhyl. lie «ri"cd thl3.t. tliere rfiouid tx-, rtiore payers, arid rLlt aji ovorwlM-lirmig proportion of snectators. He vas sure that all rogrottw that the Rhvl elub, which at urie time was famous and won a greait. name far itself, had not of late years achieved <&ia.fc measure of success which they would like to eee it obtain. The result was due to the fact t«inivfc. no sooner did they got a good phajx-ir tiiun he was induced Uj join another the e/Taot being that ihcy had a second Ofr third rate team. %V I Y.
