DENBIGH TOWN v. CARNARVON UNITED. CAR,NARVON'ITES WELL BEATEN. (By "Caledfryn"). Denbigh Town entertained Carnarvon United on Saturday. In view of tho good garue which tcok placa at''Carnarvon, a very good crowd lined the ropes when the gamo started in charge of Referee Frank Beech, Rhyl. Carnarvon had only one of their regular players on the field, and could only muster ten me.n all told. How- ever. a Carnarvon man who works in Denbigh happened to be eligible, and played in goal, thus making the eleven. Denbigh were without R. Morris F.varns. who was appearing as outside right for Everton Reserve*? ag'ainst St. Helen's Recs. The teams were:—• Denbigh: God, Sam Griffiths; hacks, Luther Evans and R. T. Williams; half-backs, D. G. Williams, Reos and W. O. Hughes; for- wards, E. E. Davic3, T. A. Davies, T. Davics, II. Randier and D. Ber wyn Davies. Carnarvon: ..Goal, Parry Roberts; backs, E. Ba.ston and W. R. Thomas (oapt.); half-backs. II. Williams, J. Sullivan and E. Billings; for- wards, T. Pany. C. Bohantia, D. Dark, D. R. Jones and F. Sullivan. Carnarvon having lost the toss kicked off down the field with the sun at their hacks. Thoy immediately made an incursion to the Denbigh half of the field, but Luther Evans checked them, and transferred tho leather to. T. A. Da- vies. who passed to E. E. L).ivies. Tho latter raced lItr, and was chocked by Thomas, but 6oon returned1, and centred. The home pivot failed to gather the lII, whicl, came out to Randies, v ho registered the dr^t. point after two minutes' play. Carnarvon, aft:* resuming, soon changed the venue, and after one of the homo backs had handled outside tho penalty area Griffiths clever- ly negotiated a hot shot. from the foot of Wil- liams. F-E. Davies wi-s given possession Lv I). G. Wiliiatpis but Thomas pulled him up at tho expense of a corner. The kick was well taken, but headed over. From tho kick-out, E. E. Davies was again in possessioin, and racing up sent in a very deceiving .shot, which boat Roberts, and put tho homesters two up. Car- narvon took up the running, and hotly assailed tho homo goal, but Griffiths dealt with hot shot., in an exceedingly clever manner. Carnarvo.u were again aggressive, but failed to penetrate the homo defence. Pressure was at length re- lieved by F. Sullivan, who stmt yards wide. From the kick-out D. n. Davies was put in po. session by his partner. Randies, and centred, but E. E. Davies shot jayt c.n the wrong side of tho post. Bonvyn Davics v/as scon again on tho run, but. he caused much amusement by missing the ball altogether when he tried to shoot, and it rolled tamely over the lino before ho could recover himself. A hot attack on the Carnarvon i goal ended in Roberts bringing' off sonic mar- vellous saves whi!o full length en the flosr. Eventu illy, however, an onenin" was made for Berwyn Davies. who centred neatly, T. Daviea twrd goal. During tho second half there wiq a relentless onslaught on the Carnarvon goaf, but the home- sters faded to take advantage of the numerous opportunities. Fine centres by E. E. Davies and Iierv. vn Davies were sent over the bar by the inside men, and when tho half-backs joined in ttlfi attack they also were at fault with their shooting. T..A. Davies wau fouled about 30 yards from goal, and a free-kick awarded. Luther Evarts tcok the kick, and sent it into the net. Roberts evidently thinking' Hut he was playing under the old rules. The next goal was scored by Baston. who, in attempting to stop a hot grounder bv\ Randies, put it through "his own goal. T. Davips completed the half-dozen. The game thu3 endod in a will fur Denbigh by six goals to love. The ''football" displayed was of the poorest throughout. Randies ancTE. E. Davie* showed up to advantage, but th3 other forwards we-ro "off colour." LSew. Recs was tho pick of a good line of half-backs, in which Walter Hughes made a, very successful debut. The backs were "out of work." whilst Griffiths, in goal, did not handle. once^ during the second half. The Car- narvon goalkeeper played a pood game under the circumstances. Thomas and B^ten defended valiantly. The half-backs did not show up well, out "Settle" was sometimes good. The pick of a fomewhat weak line of forwards wero Parry and Dark.

FESTINIOG v. LLANDUDNO. DEFEAT OF THE VISITORS, On Saturday, at, Festiniog, before a fair crowd of spectators, Llandudno triod their strength against the local team. Tho visitors wero minus lis the services of one man. Mr W. LL Jones wa3 tho referee. In less than five minutes after the siart Cheer- ham scored the first goal for the visitors, and followed up this .succesa by notching two ot-her points in a short tinle. -Throughout the first- half the homesters had the bet-1 of tho game, but they were not fortunate in turning to ad- vantage opportunities for .scoring. During the preliminaries in tho second half Llandudno made some excellent exchanges, but it was not long before tho homo forwards got together. A penalty against J. Liuit resulted in IC inn ear obtaining possession, but Lunt- saved the situ'tion in grand stylo. Soon after, when the homesters had malIc several attempts to get through. W., Williams placed in the net., and fol- lowed this up by another goal later en. Ex- cept an occasional run, the visitors were forced to assume the defensive. The equdisirig goal cam from the foot of W. R. Owen (outside left)., The homesters pressed, and worked energetically to ativarice the score. Great excitement pre- vailed. At last, W. R. Hutt scored the winning goal for the Blues, from a eplendidiy-placed centre received from Jack Jones. Final score: rFestiniog, 4; Lluidudno. 3.

NORTH WALES JUNiOR CUP. (SEMI FINAL.) LLANRWST v. RHVL RESERVE. (By "Linesman.") Thesa teams met at Llandudno on Saturday, fo' tho second time, in tho semi-final for tho Junior Cup, and again failed to decide which shall enter tho final tie. The play v.?; tamo, and there was none of the dash and vim which char- acterised the front ranks last year, and rarely any of those exciting scrimmages on ti e goal lino which were such prominent features of last year's finals. The waatner was f a tine day though th3 wind was keen. The tea-nis lined up as follows:— Llanrw3t:—R. Jones, goal; W. Owen and W. T Jcnsai full 1 backs; Jim Jones, Francis Wil- liams, and Grcnville Jones, haii-bocks; C. V. Elias, Pierce, Chishelm (capt.), A. Richard. and NEtd Griffiths, forwards. Rhyl Reserve:—Hugh Hughes, goal; Robert Roberts end A. Roberts, full backs; E. Hughes, T. Cotton (cant.), and T. Williams, half-backs; R. G. Hughes, R. E. Jonc,, R. Gallagher, J. Hughes, and J. RoberU. forwards. Referee, Mr E. Lloyd Williams. Ranger. It will be noticed thll: Rhyl were playing ten men, their outside right being absent. Cotton won the and set- the Roosters to face tho wind. Rhyl got. down with a rush, and Owen foiled tlno Rhyl outside left, arid -ivnt out to his wing. Eli:t3 got away, and centred nicely to Chisholm, who sent in a weak ground shot, which the Rhyl custodian easily negotiated. Tho Rhylites once more got possession, and made pro- gress. A corner kick proved fruitless. Will Trevor was forced to concede a corner. Tho Roosters to clear, and Gallagher found the net with a beauty, giving the Rhylitcs a one goal load. A penalty against Lltnywst, next looked dan- gerous, but. was nullified, Rhyl were smarter on the ball than their oirt>ononts, and quickly re- turned to the attk, without, however, finding the not. Llanrw-st respondod. a.nd soon the Rhyl Ot torliarl ha 1 to defend his charge. Play wai quickly tran^.erred to the other end, and Dick Jones was called upon to save, but responded gal laiitlv, and in another minute- play was again ,in close proximity to the Rhyl gcal, but Hughes listed out safely. The in dark blue onca more .wooped- down upon the Llannvst goal, and this time they worked their way through tho dofene\ and E. Hughes fouftd the net, giving Jones 110 chance of saving. A tussle ensued between the Rhyl right wing and the Llanrwst left, a.nd Chisholm gained pos- session. C. V. Elias was well pkeed at the time, and the Lla.nrw.st skipper, seeing the chance, whipped the leather across to him, and in a trice ,the outside man had it in the rigging. The Rhylites leali.'jod now that they would have to go all the way to win, and put. more energy into t-i-eir play, and the leather was c.nee more bobbing about, in the Llaiirwst goal mouth, and J. Hughes added a third point to Rhyl's ••cotr. At half-time the score was: Rhyl Reserve 3, Llan- rwst 1.. THE ROOSTERS PVLL UP THE SCORE. Tha Roosters, aided by the wind, at once as- sumed the aggressive, and Elias ha.d hard lines, the Rhyl custodian effecting two marvellous saves from his shots. At this period of the game, we were treated to a surprise by the Rhyl forwards for breaking away wit.h the nice ct<m!.matron. They beat the- Llanrwst defence, and Gallagher put on Rhyl's fourth a.nd last, point. This w is fl. revelation to the Roosters, who adopted mON) cautious tactics, for the Rhylites wve not to bo despised, although playing against the wind Chisholm had now goic, out-sido right, and placed Eli as in the centre. The Roost ers were attack- ing strongly, when Arthur Richards found him- self well placed, a.nd sent in a low, swift, drive which brought Hughes to his knees, and Elias, rushing up. put the leather in the net. Ned Griffiths wa, next in prominence, for the first tima during the game, and sent in a good centre, which was met by Francis Williams, his shot going a trifle too high. The Roosters still kept up the pre.suro, and Eiias again x'ou.ud the net, thus completing his hat trick. AN EXCITING FINISH. The Roosters strove hard to equalise, but as the time slipi>ed by several of their forwards gave up hope altogether. Five minutes more to !To! The play was getting exciting by now. Two more minutes! and still the Roosters have not e<iu>lbed, when a Rhyl forward handled alcüut i, yards outside the area, on tlil, f.- r of the field. Will Trevor was entrusted with I h kick The Rhylites gathered determinedly in front of their goal, but in vain, for the b'ck made no mi-eako, but allowing nioely for the RKTL& LLAKRWST MEET IN A TIE w in-d, he p.it the ban in tho net. Then followed a seen? of wild enthusiasm, tho Llarnwst sup- rotters freely expressing their unbounded satis- faction at the result. There-, was r.o time cr another .goal, for just as the Rhyli os kiel.ed off the whistla sounded for time up. -Bra-vo, Roosters! Still a chineo of entering the final, but the Rhylites are a tough hamlfull. Final result: Ll-anrwst 4, Rhyl Reserve 4.
