Llanwrtyd Wells Notes [BY "JUNGLE WALLAH."] Everyone was glad to see Dr. J. Arthur Morgan in Llanwrtyd during the past week. The doctor has been in medical charge of troops on voyage to the Dardanelles. I am indebted to Mr Rbys D. Jones, Bryn- onen, Llanwrtyd, for particulars of the August rainfall, as follows :-Total depth 3 56 in., greatest fall 64 on the 2nd, rainless days 13. For the corresponding month last year the total depth was 5 43 in., greatest fall 1'16, rain. less days 12. As the result of concert collections at the Pavilion, Victoria Wells Spa, Mrs Penry Lloyd has forwarded the sum of JE8 to the Y.M.C.A. Swansea Branch for distribution amongst our boys who are serving the country. Lord St. David's has promised to restore the church of St. David in the parish of Tir-abad, near Llanwrtyd Wells, where is situated Tir- abad house, his Lordship's Breconshire seat. Our stock auction, held on the 1st inst., drew but a small attendance and few cattle were penned. Fat and store lambs were plentiful and changed hands at satisfactory prices. Quotations :—Fat lambs 5d per lb., tbeave lambs 26s to 35s each, store wether lambs 17s to 25s, ewes 43s to 50s. Sapper A. E. Preece, RE., Cross House, Llanwrtyd, has landed somewhere in France. Lnc.-Cpl. Arthur Morgan, Dolgoy, has paid us a visit this week. Edward Hayes, of no fixed abode, was fined 153 including costs, at the police court, on Monday, for drunkenness. P.S. Edwards proved the caee. The magistrates present were Mr J. T. Evans (in the chair) and Mr Natbaniei Evans. At the monthly meeting of the Urban District Council, held on the 3rd inst., there were present Messrs Nathaniel Evans (chair- man), J E Carey, D I Williams, T C Davies, Evan Price, R Pugh Jones, J A Davies, E Saunders Morgan, Samuel Griffith (clerk), Rhys Williams (surveyor), and Dr P R Tarbet (medical officer of health),-The Medical Officer reported the health of the town as very satisfactory.—The Surveyor reported that com- plaints had been made to him that the Council, in repairing the river wall adjoining the New Inu Hotel, had closed an old right of way, accompanied by a request that they should re- open the said right of way. After a short discussion the matter was dropped.-The Sur- veyor further reported that the obstacles on tbe Glanvrafon Road had been removed with the exception of some boxes and barrels, and in respect to tbe latter it was decided to write Messrs Salt and Co., the lessees, requesting removal within a specified time, or immediate proceedings would be taken against the tenant. -On the proposition of Mr J A Davies, seconded by tbe Chairman, the following com. mittee was formed to interview the owners of our Sulphur Spas with a view to erecting suit- able public conveniences—Messrs Nathaniel Evans, D I Williams, J A Davies and J E Carey.
