THE FLY CRUSADE. I The fly problem has baffled us for years. It is a serious problem, for the fly not only is a nuisance in itself but is a fertile carrier of disease. Every summer twenty thousand helpless babies die as the result of summer diarrhoea which has been proved to be carried entirely by flies. Flies breed in. filth and they carry filth and disease wherever they alight. Messrs. Lawson & Co. (Bristol) Ltd., St. Philip's, Bristol, have issued an excellent little book telling in simple language the story of the I fly alld how the fly can be exterminated from our midst. Our readers by mentioning this I journal can have a copy sent post free on request.

UMWRTID MBI08 MM. Sequel at Swansea Assizes. III the Civil Court at Swansea Assizes, before Mr Justic Bray, on Monday, mention was made of the special jury action, D. H. j Thompson v. the Joint Accident, Fire and Life Assurance Company. Limited. It was an action arising out of a motor-car going over the Sugar Loaf, near Llanwrtyd Wells. Plaintiff is a resident of Glanbryndan-avenue. Swansea. Sir Ellis Griffith. K.C., and Mr Meager (instructed by Messrs. Gee and Edwards) for the defence, were present, and Sir Ellis Griffith said it was an extraordinary action, .but after giving notice of trial plaintiff desired to withdraw the case in order to fight it another day. Plaintiff was not present <>r represented, and he (Sir Ellis) was entitled to ask for judgment for defendants oji the claim. There was, however, a counter-claim, a small matter, and it being a special jury action, he supposed he ought to have a special jury sworn to try it. The Judge said the onus of proof in respect of the claim was upon the plaintiff, and gave judgment for the defendant on the claim with costs, the counter-claim to stand over with liberty to apply.
