Mid Wales League.
Mid Wales League. BRECON DEPOT S.W.B. v. LLAN- DRINDOD WELLS. Played at Brecon on Saturday after- noon in wretched weather, which made good football difficult. Newton scored for the military close on half-time. In the second half there was plenty of excitement, Potter, Barnes and Bates (the latter with an individual effort) added goals for the Depot and the match looked a foregone conclusion. Then the visitors pulled themselves together and piled on goals as fasc as their opponents had done, and the game ended in a draw of 4 goals each. It was not a match to be very critical about, the conditions were too bad. Teams :— Depot.—Yeo Capt Gotl waltz, Wood; Taylor, Smith, Hurst Watson, Potter, Bates, Barry, Newton. Llandrindod Wells.—Emery; Lloyd, Davies J. Davies, Price, Thomas Lewis, Crane, Hutt, Powell, Gough, Referee-Mr E. S. Edwards, Talybont. NEWBRIDGE-ON-WYE v. BRECON SPORTS CLUB. Played at Newbridge on Saturday and won by the Brecon team by 7 goals to 0. HAY v. LLANFAES BRIGADE. Llanfaes visited Hay on Saturday last and the event aroused a good deal of interest amongst the footballers ia the district. Notwithstanding a very efficient display on the part of the Hay defence the visitors proved too good for the homesters, so that when time was called the verdict was 4 goals to nil.

Disclaimer by Mr Jno. Smith,…
Disclaimer by Mr Jno. Smith, Greer-way. To the Editor of the COUNTY TIMES. Sir,—In order to remove a false im- pression that some seem to entertain that in purchasing my farm at Eardisley I competed against the tenant at the sale of the farm. I would be glad if you will insert the enclosed letter in your next issue, which will I think, prove that I was not guilty of any such action. Yours truly, JOHN SMITH. Gjreenway, Brecon, December 9th. 1919. LETTER REFERRED TO ABOVE. Lady Arbour, Winforton, Hereford. Dear Sir,—Mr Smith of Greenway, Brecon, did not come to look oyer the Arbour farm without asking me if I was a buyer of the farm. I told him I should not buy my farm at any price. Yours faithfully, W. H. WILLIAMS.
Disgraceful Behaviour at Concerts…
Disgraceful Behaviour at Concerts at Sennybridge. To the Editor of the COUNTY TIMES. Sir,—It is now full time that steps should be taken to protect the best class of citizens in this district. The com- plaints which are continually heard of the disgraceful behaviour of young people congregating at the back of the hall at Concerts, Eisteddfodau, &c., are quite justified, and the culprits should now be brought tQ light, so that we may have an end put ontee for all to this most serious state of affairs. For this purpose I would respectfully suggest to the pro- moters of the entertainments to be held on Christmas and Boxing nights, to make adequate arrangements to detect those who are the cause of such disturbances and have them' brought before the Magis- trates at Devynock. Then we shall soon see an improvement and not before. It is a serious matter to think that the nation to-day is expending more money that ever it has on education, and that youths up to 22 and 23 years of age behave themselves in such a manner, while 20 to 30 years ago there was never any need of complaints in this direction. Where are we drifting to ? As one who attends these gatherings for the purpose of being edified as well as entertained, I appeal to the leaders in churches and chapels to draw the atten- tion of their congregation to the ob- jectionable character that the whole com- munity has to bear on account of a number of light headed and frivolous youngsters. Hoping to hear that the suggestion for XinAs and Boxing nights will be taken up, and thanking you for inserting these few remarks. I am, yours, &c., "Pro Bono Publico."

Death.—On Monday last the death, occurred of Mrs Maria Betterton the wife of James Betterton at 3, New Church street. The deceased lady had been in splendid health and the sad news was a tremendous shock to her numerous friends. She had a seizure on' the previous day and never regained -con- sciousness. Dr. Flood was in immediate attendance but the stroke was of too serious a nature, a burst blood vessel on the brain, and death was certified-as to cerebral hemorrhage. Mrs Betterton, who had been deprived of her sight for the last 4 years, was noted for her unfailing bright and cheery spirit and was one of the most devoted and faithful members of S. John's Church. Despite her 70 odd years, and her infirmity she got about remarkably and she will be greatly missed by her large circle of friends. Mr and Mrs Bett erson came to Cefn to reside over 47 years ago. One son, Private Charles Betterton, Loyal North Lancashire Regiment was killed in actien at Passchendale in October, 1917, a few days after receiving a certificate from his colonel for gallant conduct and devotion to duty at Poelcappelle. Another son has only recently returned from the East after serving overseas with H.M. forces for 5 years, he left with the 1/lst Brecknocks.

Social Tea.—The first of a series of social teas and musical evenings to be held in connestion with the Church of St. James took place on Wednesday, the 3rd inst. and proved highly successful.
