HAINES, J In accordance with the provisions of the Companies Act, 1900, we certify that all our require- ments as Auditors have been complied with and we report that we have ascertained the correctness of the Cash Balances at the Head Office, the Money at Call and Short Notice, and the securities represent- ing the investments of the Bank; and having examined the Balance Sheet in detail with the books at the Head Office and with the certified returns from each Branch, we are of opinion that such Balance Sheet is full and fair and properly drawn up so as to exhibit a true and correct view of the state of the Bank's affairs, as shown by such Books and Returns. Ja^ry, 1 At the Annual General Meeting (Robert Wigram, Esq., in the chair) the above Report was adopted. The retiring Directors, Messrs. George Forbes Malcolmson, Francis Charles Le Marchant, and Thomas George Robinson were re-elected, and Mr. Cecil Lowry Wade was elected a Director of the Bank in place of Mr. Charles Barclay. A vote of thanks to Mr. Barclay and sympathy with him and his family on his retirement in consequence of ill-health was passed. Mr. Edwin Waterhouse and Mr. William Barclay Peat were re-appointed Auditors for the current year. The best thanks of the Proprietors were given to the Directors, General Managers, Branch Managers and other Officers of the Bank for their efficient services, and to the Chairman for his able conduct in the chair. The National Provincial Bank of England, Limited, having numerous Branches in England and Wales, as well as Agents and Correspondents at home and abroad, affords great facilities to its customers, who may have money transmitted to the credit of their Accounts through any of the Branches free of charge. Current Accounts are conducted at the Head Office and Metropolitan Branches, and Deposits are received and interest allowed thereon at the rates advertised by the Bank in the London newspapers from time to time. The Bank undertakes the Agency of Private and Joint Stock Banks, also the Purchase and Sale of all British and Foreign Stocks and Shares, and the collection of Dividends, Annuities, &c. Circular Notes and Letters of Credit, payable at the principal towns abroad, are issued for the use 'of Travellers. At the Country Branches Current Accounts are opened, Deposits received, and all other Banking business conducted. ° The Officers ofvthe Bank are bound to secrecy as regards the transactions of its customers.
