Presented at the Forty-second Annual General Meeting, held at the Offices of the Company, London Bridge, E.C., Friday, February 16th, 1906. In presenting the Report and Statement of Accounts for the rast year the attention of the Shareholders is directed to the continued pros- perity of the Company. The Income which in 1901 was ZI,005,988 stcod at £1,449,10Z on De- I cember 31st last, being an increase of nearly 50 per cent in four years. The total Assets £1,4Z9,782 in 1901 were doubled during the same period, the actual figures being £ 2,857,208. This rate of progress has prevailed in both the Ordinary and Industrial Branches alike; the Ordinary branch Income being increased from iCI34,136 in 1901 to Z224,409, the Assets being increased from iE459,223 to 979,564. This remark- able growth fully justifies the attention given by the Directors to this department of the Company's business. For the first time in the history of the Company the sum assured during the year in the Ordinary Branch has exceeded a million. A Valuation of the business as at December 31st last has been submitted to the Company's Con. sulting Actuary, R. M. Moore, Esq., who reports a surplus of Z560,870 after providing for all liabilities. INCOME. The Total Income for the year amounted to £1,499,10210; Od., being an increase of Cll6,734 9s. 3d. over that of the previous year. This in- cludes LZ24,409 4s. 2d. income in the Ordinary Branch, which is P,28,530 6s. Od. greater than the previous year. The number of Policies issued during the year in this Branch was 12,545, asswing the sum of £1,043,580 Os. Od., and pro- ducing a New Annual Premium Income of L44,073 7s. Od. PREMIUMS (DECEMBER. 1906). The new Policies issued during the year number 1.359,086, and the Premium Income on the Policies in force on the Company's books now amounts to iEl,533,526 16s. Id. CLAIMS. The Company has paid 63,989 Life Claims, Grants and Matured Endowments during the year, amotintit), with Bonuses, to Z461,743 11s. Od., which added to the sums previously paid in Claims sincc the establishment of the Company, make a total of E4,725,025 14s. Id. ACCUMULATED FUNDS. The Total Funds, with Capital paid up, now amount to L2,857,208 7s. 3d.. showing an increase for the year of Z428,793 14s. 7d. The following alterations will be made on and from October 2nd, 1905:— UP TRAINS. The 7.45 a.m. train Saturdays only, from Lampeter to Carmarthen, etc., will leave at 7.50 a.m. The 9.15 a.m. train from Aberystwyth to Carmarthen, Swansea, Cardiff, Newport and London will be continued. A new train will leave Aberystwyth at 11.0 a.m. for Stations in South Wales and London. The 3-0 p.m. train from Aberystwyth will be continued. The 6.15. p.m. train will run from Aber- ystwyth will have a through conection to Carmarthen and on Saturday only to Swan- sea. DOWN TRAINS. The 6.30 a.m. Mixed Train Pencader to Aberystwyth will leave at 6.40 a.m. and be later throughout. The 10.25 a.m. from Pencader will leave at 10.18 a.m. and be earlier throughout to Aber- ystwyth. The 2.55 p.m. train from Pencader will be continued. The 6.5 p.m. train from Pencader will be accelerated and be due at Aberystwyth at 8.0. p.m. instead of 8. 10 p.m. Through Coaches will be run on all trains between Aberystwyth and Carmarthen except the 6.15 p.m. which will be Saturdays only. These trains keep accurate time between London and Aberystwyth owing to the dis- tance between London and Newport (133t miles) being run both Up and Down- without any intermediate stop. T. B.
