In the fight between the troops and the miners at Lord Masham's collieries near Pontefract on Thurs- day night (reported on 5th paRe) eight miners were badly wounded by bullets. Three of them have since died, and two or three of the others are in a dangerous condition. A sppcial meeting of the Montgomeryshire Liberal Association is called for Tuesday, at the Victoria Hall. Newtown, in accordance with a requisition. The object of the requigilionere is to get the recent resolutions affectng the number of Borough delegates rescinded. BOSTOCK, WOMBWKLL AND BAILKY'S GRAND HIPPODROMR.-Thie g-an(i hippodrome, consisting of a gigantic combination of circus, double menagerie, end variety theatre, will visit this dis- triet next week, giving performances, at Llanidloes, Newtown (on Penygraig field), and Welshpool. This show is said to be one of the largest now travelling, and the programme submitted at every performance is such as to satisfy the most fastidious. There will be two performances daily, and one charge admits to all parts of the pavilion. Although the well-known menagerie shows of Messrs Bostock and Wombwell have visited this district previously, this is the first time Bailey's circus has been included. There will be no procession at mid-day, the extensive prepara- tions for the numerous performances rendering it impossible, but tn invitation is given the public to visit the undll prior to each performance. WtrLSH FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION.—The annnal general meeting of this association took place at thf Wynnetay Hotel, Wrexham, on Thursday evening. HARVEST FESTIVALS. LLAXIDLOES.-The local Corps of the Salvatfoit Army held their harvest festival services on Sunday week, and special meetings were held throughout thi day. At the morning service the Rev E. T. M. Evans, B.A., preached and at the evening service the Rev E. A. Fishbourne prelichd. The church was beaut;folly decorated by Mrs Proctor, Mrs and the Misses Ricardo, Mi-ses Polly and Gertie Parke. and Mr Evans, curate. POOL QUAY.—On Thursday the harvest festival services took place at the Patish Chutch. A celebration of the Holy Communion was held at 8 a.m., followed by a children's service sit 2-30 p.m., when the R;ôv J. Lewis, vicar of Ford, officiated. At the evening service the Rev J. Sawer, of Leightdn, preached an appropriate sermon. Mrs Roberts pre- sided at tne organ with much ability, and the musical part of the services were well rendered. Tea took place in the Schoolroom in the afternoon, and sports of various kinds, including dancing, were held in » field kindly lent by Mr W. P. Hole. Amongst those who contributed largely to the success of the services were the Rev R. J. Roberts, Messrs Jones (BLinkL Green (Red House), and J. Pugh (Colley). The decorations were elaborate, and carried out by the Viear's family and parishioners. BBRRIEW.—The harvest festival came off on Wed- nesday at the parish church, when the Rev Evan Jones, vicar of Llanllwchaidrn, preached a suitable sermon, and the other clergy present were the Rev J. Baines, vicar, Rev J. B. W. Williams, and the Rev J. Roberts, curates. The service was fully choral, and the anthem Ob, how manifold are Thy works (Psalm 104) was sung, the duet being taken by Miss Janet Lloyd and Mary Jane Griffiths. The collection was in aid of the curates fund. The sacred edifice was beautifully decorated, and looked exqui- site. The re-table was tastefully decorated with lilies of all colours, intermixed with other flowers and evergreens. The communion rails were hucg" with asters, dahlias, small sunflowers aud mot's. The cnoir stalls were also nicely adorned with aster# and dahlias, the flowers being mixed with different kindg of grain. The lectern was bountifully e.othed with lilies, berries, ivy and evergreens. The screen .was covered with a layer of moss, coated with ivy, and surmounted with small aunfl wers. lilies, berius, geraniums, asters, and other varities of flowers. From the screen arose several c t-us,e- cuni t)osed of wheat, the effect De'ng good. The pulpit was adorned with sunflowers, entwined with ivy and geraniums. The bareness of tho pews was relieve by a bunch o £ oa s fixed on each end. The pillar* were encircled with ivy, trimmed with moss, and doited with small flowers and berries. The font was decked with choice flowers which were ingeniously arranged at the top so as to form a cross. The flowers were white dahlias, asters, lilies (white and crinisoii) and intermixel1 with ivy and evergreens, the whole presenting a pleasing aspect. The side windows weie embellished with moss and covered with all kinds of vegetables, such as marrows, carrots, apples, plums, &o,. Great credit is due to the ladies for decorating i he church. Lowry, of Montgomery. The interior of the saneuary proeentert a beautitol spec-acle, it being evident from thp elaborate decora- tions that much care and artistic skiil had been exercised in the arrang,m-xits of flowers, fruit, grain, and other produce.
