HARVEST FESTIVALS. LLAXIDLOES.-The local Corps of the Salvatfoit Army held their harvest festival services on Sunday week, and special meetings were held throughout thi day. POOL QUAY.—On Thursday the harvest festival services took place at the Patish Chutch. A celebration of the Holy Communion was held at 8 a.m., followed by a children's service sit 2-30 p.m., when the R;ôv J. Lewis, vicar of Ford, officiated. At the evening service the Rev J. Sawer, of Leightdn, preached an appropriate sermon. Mrs Roberts pre- sided at tne organ with much ability, and the musical part of the services were well rendered. Tea took place in the Schoolroom in the afternoon, and sports of various kinds, including dancing, were held in » field kindly lent by Mr W. P. Hole. Amongst those who contributed largely to the success of the services were the Rev R. J. Roberts, Messrs Jones (BLinkL Green (Red House), and J. Pugh (Colley). The decorations were elaborate, and carried out by the Viear's family and parishioners. BBRRIEW.—The harvest festival came off on Wed- nesday at the parish church, when the Rev Evan Jones, vicar of Llanllwchaidrn, preached a suitable sermon, and the other clergy present were the Rev J. Baines, vicar, Rev J. B. W. Williams, and the Rev J. Roberts, curates. The service was fully choral, and the anthem Ob, how manifold are Thy works (Psalm 104) was sung, the duet being taken by Miss Janet Lloyd and Mary Jane Griffiths. The collection was in aid of the curates fund. The sacred edifice was beautifully decorated, and looked exqui- site. The re-table was tastefully decorated with lilies of all colours, intermixed with other flowers and evergreens. The communion rails were hucg" with asters, dahlias, small sunflowers aud mot's. The cnoir stalls were also nicely adorned with aster# and dahlias, the flowers being mixed with different kindg of grain. The lectern was bountifully e.othed with lilies, berries, ivy and evergreens. The screen .was covered with a layer of moss, coated with ivy, and surmounted with small aunfl wers. lilies, berius, geraniums, asters, and other varities of flowers. From the screen arose several c t-us,e- cuni t)osed of wheat, the effect De'ng good. The pulpit was adorned with sunflowers, entwined with ivy and geraniums. The bareness of tho pews was relieve by a bunch o £ oa s fixed on each end. The pillar* were encircled with ivy, trimmed with moss, and doited with small flowers and berries. The font was decked with choice flowers which were ingeniously arranged at the top so as to form a cross. The flowers were white dahlias, asters, lilies (white and crinisoii) and intermixel1 with ivy and evergreens, the whole presenting a pleasing aspect. The side windows weie embellished with moss and covered with all kinds of vegetables, such as marrows, carrots, apples, plums, &o,. Great credit is due to the ladies for decorating i he church.
