Rules avrl orders agreed to by the members of agricultural society, at a general meeting, held at the Sportsman lflll, in Carnarvon, on the eighth day of August, 1807. RICHARD EDWABDS, Esq. in the chair. rfflil AT the premiums oilered by this Society 8 shall extend to the whole of, and be confined to, the county of Carnarvon. 2. That the meetings of the society he held at Conway and at Bangor on days hereafter to be ap- pointed on the :13th day of May, at Pwllheli; and on the 4th day of the Summer Great Sessions, at Carnarvon; at which last meeting the premi- ums shall be declared, and a president for the suc- ceeding year chosen. 3. That, in the absence of the President, a Chairman, chosen by a majority of the members present, shall preside at and regulate the debates t)f the meeting; and that no new rules be made, or the former altered, but at the general meeting at Carnarvon; and not then, unless nine members be present. 4. That the annual subscription of any sum, not less than one guinea, shall entitle a person to be a member; and that every pet son who has given in his name as a member, shall be considered as such, Wiini he gives notice, in writing, to lire SCCre's"")"; I of lii., intention to withdraw his name, at least six months before the general meeting to be helll at Carnarvon. 5. That no premium he given to any non-sub- scribing freeholder worth 1001. per annum; or to the tenant of any such non-subscribing freeholder, unless the said tenant be himself a member. 6. That as it is the wish and intent of the soci- ety to reward the most meritorious [claimants, as well as to guard againt improper claims, they re- serve to themselves a power to withhold the pre minm entirely, if there appears not to be merit sufficient in the claims, or to give such part only of any premium as the candidates shall appear to deserve; and they will give their premiums, when there appears great merit, although there may be only one claimant for such premiums. 7. A candidate for a premium, or a person ap plying for a bounty, being detected in any attempt to impose upon the society, shall forfeit such pre- mium or bounty, and be incapable of obtaining any in future. 8. That the premiums be adjudged by members of the society, to be chosen by ballot; and that all questions shall be decided by a majority of the members present; :md the secretary may adjourn the meeting unless five members attend. 9. That the members of the society sh.1,n dine together at the annual meeting, held in the great session week at Carnarvon; and that the ex pence Of the said dinner shall he defrayed by the society. 10. That the secretary procure such books and papers as are necessary for the use of the society, vhicti may he inspected by the members at all reasonable times. That he collect all subscripti- ons, and deposit the same in the hands of Mr. Robert Roberts, of theBan'c, in Carnarvon, who is appointed treasurer to the society. The following premiums are offered try the society for the encouragement o f agriculture and industry, in the county of Carnarvon. 1. To the occupier of any farm, or parcel of land, who shall raise the cleanest and best crop of Turnips, in every respect (regardbeing always had to the size of the farm), the quantity, however,not to be less than two statute acres, a silver medal of the value of five guineas? or the sum iu cash, if re- quired. To the occnpier who shall raise the next best crop, two guineas and a half. To the occupier ;who shall raise the third best crop, one guinea. Claims for this premium to be sent tor the secre- tary on or before the 12th day of November, 1808. 2. To the occupier of the land, who shall most effectually drain and reclaim the greatest quantity of wet, spongy, clay, or morass ground, not being less than ten acres, a medal of the value of ten guineas, or the sum in cash. To the occupier who shall drain the next great- est quantity, not being lefis than five acres, five guineas. 3. To the occupier who shall improve the great- est quantity of meadow and pasture land, by arti- ficially throwing water over it iu the most: equal and judicious manner, the quantity of laud impro- ved uotbeing less than ten acres, a medal of the value of ten guineas, or the sum in cash. To the occupier who shall improve the next greatest quantity, the same not being less than live acres, five guineas. 4. That in the opinion of this Meeting, a Do- mestic Apothecary is necessary, to make the Den- bigh Dispensary as useful as it is capable of be- coming; and they particularly beg leave to re- commend it to the next General Meeting, to en- gage one without loss of time. 6.
