The horn of a stag, measuring nearly four feet and in excellent preservation, was lately washed up from the bottom of the river Conway, between the embankment and the island. It is a great curiosity, and must have remained in the bed of the river many centuries.—It is now in the possession of Mr. Wilson, the contractor. We are sorry to learh, that some unpleasant altercation has taken plau in the vicinity ot Cort- way. Our readers are aware that several per- sons from, that neighbourhood have been com- 00 mitted both to our. county gaol, and that of Den- bigh to take their trials at the ensuing assizes, charged with plundering from the wreck of the Hornby. IN THE COUNTY OF DEN- BIGH:—We have just been informed, that a Mur- der was committed on Friday evening, the .5th in- stant, in a Dingle, called Nanr Dowyll ,y Dawn, within 200 yards of the road leading Ironi Bet- tws-Abergele, in Denbighshire, to Tal-y-Cafn Ferry. The deceased, Hugh Jones, who resided near the place, was about 60. years of age, by trade a weaver, an occasional preacher in the Wes- leyan connection. He left his home between 6 and 7 o'clock in the evening, with the intention of re- turning that-night. His wife and family finding he did not do so, concluded lie would remain dur- ing the night, at a house of a relation about two miles from his home. His son went there the next morning, and was informed that his father had not been there. It was suspected that some accident had befallen him, and the body was, af., ter a search, for some thrii unsuccessful, found in a rivulet in the most lonely part of the ningle. There were marks of violence on the head, and the throat had been perforated by a sharp instru-, merit. An inquest has been held, and the jury returned a verdict of WHj id Murder, against some person or persons unknown. Some circum- stances, howe-ver-transpired to fix a suspicion on his son. — It appeared that a misunderstanding had takeii place on account of the deceased not approving of his soli's marriage with a young person in the neighbourhood; the son was ap- prehended and taken before Mr. Wynne,, of Cefn y Coed" thè magistrate, and dreadful to state, after an examination which lasted- a considerable t.i uie* he was tullv comniitted to, the county gaol at Ruthin, charged with the 'Wilful murder of his own faith#* ■■ FATAL OCI uRBLNcr.—-Mr. David Harries, LlwynceIyn,neArLlandilo,Cat-marthenshire,went oil Saturday, se'nnight to view the performama^ a.1 of a company of strdlling jugglers at Llandilo, wh<>, amongst other feats exhibited that °f •wa lowing a Sword. The Members of the Newtown LiberalSociety assembled on the 1st inst. to celebrate the anm^ versary of the Tutelar Saint of Wales They marched in order to church (preceded by tne oe Cavalry) where a yery WP">|njtJ delivered by the Rev. Jonies, Mr. TTitle^, ind Mr. Gabriel Roberts, were named as a Sub Committee for the purpose of soliciting subscriptions and donations. The amount of subscriptions already received, about t50, was directed to be invested in the Savings' Bank, where it is proposed that it shall remain untouch- ed until the Society shall become matured, and the probable amount of its funds ascertained.— There is every reason to believe, that the love of tlie country Which forms so leading a feature of the Cambrian character, aided by the generous impulse in the cause of charity among those of our most wealthy citizens, whose interests are more closely connected with those of the Princi- pality, will add largely to the funds of the socie- ty. It is due to the Cymmrodorian Society, Iwhich has the patronage of that friend. of his country, Sir E: P. Lloyd, Bart. to state, that it has given the most efficient aid to the new Socie- ty, many of the members of the former having enrolled their names on the lists of the latter at the same time,' it will be seen, that the two So- cieties have distinct objects in view the former directing its efforts to the perpetuation of the language of the Cymry the latter to assist, so far as its limited means shall allow, in furnishing to the children of their indigent countrymen, the means of becoming useful and industrious bors of sopicty. The County Magistrates at a very full meet- ing in Chester, voted:£J2ÜO for the making a New Street leading into Wales, and a Church, besides giving up a plot of land, valued at <47^0. SPRING AND LANGAN.-—Saturday evening being appointed for making a second deposit lor t is interesting match, at Randall's, Hole-in-t ie- Wall, in Chancery-lane, a numerous party ot amateurs assembled in the Nonpareil s best ci w, and long before the time appointed not a seat was to be obtained. Langan was first m the room he was in high spirits, amusing the com- pany with Irish anecdotes, told in genuine rich brogue, and the Fancy were so eager to obtain a sight and a hearing of the Irish Champion, that the chairs and tables were mounted in utter disre- gard of Jack Randnll's furniture. Theionns of politeness, and the forms of the landlora were alik^ trodden under foot, and one of the latter came down with a loud crash, lfooring abowl a do- zen kiddie, at once. Shortly before ten o ciocir, Spring appeared and was loudly applauded.— The, skes were then "cl,el)bsite-,i-tlie men shook •hands-rdrank each other's health, and -Langan, observed, "Let's have no disagreeable aiajjuty on the subject; we'll be friends to nignt, at any rate Sixty pounds to forty were ouered on Spring, but refused-, when Laugan obser.vea, he would take _70 to !0. — I'd bet you," said Spring, twice over, if von like.> Agreed, said the frishman, and both the bets were made accordingly, (ing and-stcamers1 then,'became the chief objects of attraction, till the. night was far advanced.

'-..'"-JAM, THE CAMBRIAN SOCIETY…
-JAM THE CAMBRIAN SOCIETY OF DUBLIN. [ORDER OF ST. DAVID.] THE Members of the above Society met at the Roebucte Tavern, in order to celebrate the anni- versary of their Tutelar Saint. The meeting was numerously and respectably attended by several Welsh gentlemen, that were not ashamed to dis- play the leek in the course of the day, though at the same time it excited a great deal of curiosity in the public streets, it being rather of a novel nature in Dublin. The arrangements entered into by the stewards, who spared no pains and attention to render the meeting as sociable and convivial as possible, met the highest approbation of the President, Vice-President, &c. &c., The following resolu- tion was entered on the books. Resolved-That a Sub-Committee be appointed to meet here on the 3d'inst. to take into consi- deration the propriety of supplying the Welsh Bretanges in France, with copies of the Holy Scriptures, agreeable to the Meeting held at Brecon for the same purpose. After several speeches were delivered in the Welsh Language, in order to carry into effect the above resolution, and other business relative to the Society having been transacted, the mem- bers adjourned to a spacious saloon, and then partook of a most excellent entertainment, which did high honour and credit to Mr. Burgess, the keeper of the tavern. After the cloth was re- moved, the following toasts were given by the President, John Roberts, Esq. and the Airs, ap- propriated to each toast, accompanied, by the So- CIETY'S HARPER.
