THE Author of a Pamphlet, printed at Car- narvon,- by L. E. Jones,- and published on the 1st of 1823, acknowledges that the same was written under great irritation of feeling and he; has now no hesitation in saying, that the statements therein contained, reflecting upon the conduct and character of a Reverend Gentleman, are gfoundless, and is sorry that the same met the public eye. Witness—Robert Read, Solicitor. Bangor, 2ilh March, 1824.

We have been refused by those in authority from giving a statement where the vessels are bound: t", laden with slates.—if this refusal is persisted in, v/e must' be under the necessity of refusing the shipping returns altogether. For the purposes of information they are perfectly useless.. In our last we had to contradict a previous statement of the committal of a young man to Rutiiiri gaol, charged with the murder of his father. Vie have, now, however, the unpleasant duty of informing our readers, that fresh cir- cumstances have transpired, implicating the son, and on Tuesday it, was fully committed Ruthin gaol, to take his trial at the present Assize, for the county of Denbigh.—The particu- lars of the trial shall appear in this paper. We have received the following communica- tion from Conway, which we feel it our duty to lay before O"lr readers ;Sut,—Itis due to"{hec«iuse oftruth and justice,' that ii statement, in jour paper of file 25-Jli ult.:[ should be corrected instanllv. DISCOVERY.— It has long been a pro- blem, to make or find a cement or mortar for ge- neral use, with the property of hardening under water, or enduring in buildings, whose founda- tions are laid in marshy or wet ground. Puzzuo- lana-earth, from the Mediterranean, is known to possess this property, and is consequently used for this purpose but from the expe'nee of trans- port, it is not within general reach. A French engineer (M. Vicat) has lately discovered that limestone, half-bjmit, or taken out of the lire be- fore it is converted into quick lime, will answer the same end. When it has undergone this pro- cess, it may, he says, be bruised, and formed into I a kind of.plaster -which hardens like ferruginous earth, under water.
