The inviolabie 'integrity of his the engaging suavity of his disposition, and the natural grace and dig- nity of his manner, were the admiration of all who had the happiness to know him. He was the oldest Magistrate in the County of Cardigan. His vigorous intellect, superior judgment, and deep knowledge of law, eminently qualified him for his magisterial office and in no man ever dwelt a more ardent love of even-handed justice.^ He has left an only Son, the inheritor of his virtues and his Estate, to lament the loss of one of the kind est of Fathers.

The following recipe for making a foetid bitter solution, which destroys all kinds of insects, is given in the Journal de Phdrmacie for February last, by M. Viney, one of the editorsTake of wood mushrooms, or large brown foetid boletusee, 6 lbs,; black soap, 2 ditto grated nux vomica, 2oz.; water, 200 lbs. Put the mushrooms bruised, and beginning to putrefy, into the water, lia-ving. previously" dissolved the soap therein. Leaye the mixture to putrefy in a cask for some days agi- tating the liquid from time to time. When it has becoineveni foetid, the decoction of the nux vomica hi wilier is'to be poured into it. This liquor sprinkled on trees, bushes, plants, &c. in gardens, will entirely destory, or banish every None of them can stand tills foetid poisoii.
