Services will be held in the open-air next Sunday as follows:— Matins and sermon at 11 a.m., and evensong and sermon at 6 p.m. PRES-LA lAlTON.—At Holy Trinity Church House, the Rector (the Rev. Llewelyn R. Hughes, M.A.) presided ovür a meeting of sidesmen and Church officers for the purpose of making a presentation to Mr J. Wyard, late postmaster of Llandudno, who is lrov- ing the district. The Rector said that they had met together to offer Mr Wyard a small token of the great esteem in which he was held by them, and to show how much they valued, his consistent sc-rviees to the Church during all the years he resided at Llandudno. the presentation was in no sense a public testimonial, though they were pleased that Mr Wyard's services had been recognised by the highest authorities of the Government in his department. They simply wished him to take with him a memento of his connection with the Church at Llandudno.—Dr. Dalton, in making the presentation, said he hoped that when the time came for Mr Wyard to retire, he would follow the example of a for- mer postmaster oii Llandudno, by taking up his residence again in the town. Dr. Dalton then handed to Mr Wyard a handsome solid silver inkstand, bearing the following inscrip- tion :—"Presented to Mr J. Wyard by the clergy, Church officers, and sidesmen of Holy Trinity Church, Llandudno, July 17th, 1910." BOATS DAMAGED BY THE GALE. A s-svcre gale blew over Llandudno on Monday night, when the huge waves dash- ing against the rocks of the Great Orme formed a magnificent spectacle which was watched by thousands of visitors who lined the beach. The terrific north-westerly wind continued throughout the night. The boatmen had brought their boats right on the Promenade for safety, but so strong was the gale that it carried four rowing boats from the Promenade right into the sea, and dashed them against the sea wall. The boats belonged to Messrs Joseph Jones, J. Francis Jones, Thomas Parry, and James Williams. During the night the telegraph wires were also damaged with th-e result that communi- cation between the Gloddaeth-street Office and the General Office was completely discon- nected. Communication between the Chief Office and Liverpool was also stopped for the greater part of Tuesday. MIRIAM YR OGOF. Mrs Miriam Jones, better known as "Miriam yr Ogof." who, with her daughter and grand- dittighter, reside in a cottage at Go-garth, on the western slopes of the Great (tone's Head, re- oouitily celebrated her 91st birthday. She for- morly lived with her late husbaaid, Mr Isaac I Jones, in a, cave which is now within the grounds ctf the residence of Judgie Parry, of the Man- chester County Court, and she there became the mother of fifteen children, who ail lived and who turned out to be sturdy men and- women. The cave consisted of two fairly spacious com- partments, and in front of it was a good piece of garden ground. For many years a shilling1 a year rent was paid to the Eowcsi-asiioal Com- missioners. When the Marine Drive was constructed in 1879 it cut through the beat piece of Miriam's garden, and the cottage where the old lady now lives being then vacant, the Jones family moved into it, and were well compensated for giving up their cave and the Land they had tilled. Mrs. Jones a.nd her husband both worked at the OCll- eliructiocQ of the Marine Drive, which being now the property of the D-i.-tr.iot Council, wiiJ shortly be d'eclared froe of t.o:i.s for p-'viestrians. LORD MOSTYN'S LAND. REMARKABLE PARISH COUNCIL DISCUSSION. At tOO meeting of fhe Whitford Parish Coun- cil, Mr W. H. Hammond, chairman, pressing, t}*e question of the ownership of Llyn GalLcE, a strip of land between M.)il Polioe Station and Ffynnongroew, and reaching from, the Ches- ter and Iloiylw^ai'l railway to Mostyn Park wall, was brought forward on a motion ^krirh-ted by Mr Tliomas Jones, Mostyn, that the Council in- vest, gate- the matter. Since he had given notice, Mr Thonuu# Jones observed, an action bad been he-ard before Judge Moss at Holywell County Court, but he hoped that the decision then, given was not. going to influence tho Council, but that tlwy would carry out their duty and investigate Hie matter. The Clerk: Are you prepared with £100 to in- vestigate the title? Mr Thomas Willinirls: The recent county court case proved the ownership of the land. Mr Thomas Jones: It has not. been proved. We know what Judge Moss's decision was. The Chairman: I think it was in favour of the Mostyn estate. We must be careful not to make ourdelves liable to a big expense. Mr Thomas Joins said they laew the owner- ship of the place had been in dispute for years. He considered that Ixffd Mostyn should pro- duce title deeds vo the Council. The Clerk said the Parish Council oould not move at all in calling upon anyone to produce evidanoe of ownership of property. If tT<e was any encroechmcnt upon roadside waste or common the Pariah Council could apply to tfbe District Council. Mr John Tliomas said they were bold that the land was obtained in the time of James 1. From history lIe (Mr Thomas) learned that James 1. was a King in Sootland. Whaf had he to do with the land in Waks? The Chairman; The grant holds good, all the sad I to. Mr Careen: Perhaps Mr Mostyn can give us his views upon the subject. The Hon. Bdwurd Mostyn: The only thing I can say is that the Mostyn estate claims both strips of Land. That claim has been proved. Mr T. Jones proposed that the Parish Oouncil petition, the Rural District Council to take the matter in hand. .Mr T. Williams moved an. amendment that, the question having been decided by a recent civil action, the matter be not further dLseussed. Mr A. Carson seoond-ed the amendment, which was carried by 6 votes to 4.
