ABERGELE HORSE SHO\v.l ANOTHER RECORD ESTABLISHED. AN INTERESTING COMPETITION. ) The comifmtt-cc responsible for the annual horse, Show at Abergele on Bank Holiday are to be congratulated upon the splendid array of horses Lley brought together. It waa the largest entry in the history of the Socacty, there: being- 65 more horsas on show tha.n last year, which, was oonsidered to bo a record. For years this show bas been steadily gaining m popularity, and it was a matter of surprise to j farmers. in the distlict that notwithstanding the, largo number of horses sent away each fair, day from tlie district there were so many entered Icr competition. Nor was quantity the only matter for congratulation, the quality JJoCill alike excellent. In fact the judges stated that rfiey J) never seen such a show of a in a district the »ize"of Aborgele, and they were agrcoabdy surprised at the steady improvement which has bec<n- effected. The. committee N,e-ry hard for the gne-at success which attended the show, and no oco was mone pleaded than was the veteran breeder of Iteavy horses, Mr David Willia.ms, Ty Gwyn, who as chairman has dene much to- wards making the Abergele shew what it is to- day. In the presiut-irt., Mr R. E. Birch, the committer \rero foitunate in having a gentle- man w;ho haa taken the greatest interest in the annual event, and! he entered thoroughly into the details of the arrangements, and, in every I ?, I'llc, 4c, th?-, cciriii:?3ti" ris. te Nvas a splendid body of stewards, and the whole pro- ccodin^s pa>stied off without the slightest hitch. The exhibits were judged expeditiously, and no 0--?yub?? Ole thlc)l,ol."?'a vvbioh all the iti?t,iiiier in details were carried out was largQly due to the efforts of Mr -Baekburn Williams, who as hon. sec. did all that was possible for the successful working of the ehow. In this he was greatly asserted by Mr Wm. Davies, who for the first time acted as secretary, discharging his duties in a most satisfactory man tier. If there was one note which jarred the day's proceedings it was the presence of a roundabout show in a field adjoining- the show field. This machine with its sonorous organ po-ured forth macliino- mado mutio with untiring energy, and placed at. a discount the Llanddulas Silver Band, which had been siJecially ongagted for the occasion. It is a matter of regret that there are no bye- laws in Abergele to deal with such matters. It was not until late in the afternoon that the pro- tect of tho hon. sec. were of any avpi), a.nd after that tho" mU,<;jo" of the orga-n was moderated ./omeAvhat, inuchl to the relief of those who had bueiraesd on the l'ihow ground. The weather during the morning was some- what changeable, a.nd there was a sprinkling of rain. Then the sky cleared- and a. bright inter- val followed, but during- the jumping there were several sharp showers, which no doubt interfered with the attendance so far as the grand stand was concerned. But there was: a large company to witness the jumping, and on "the stand was Lady Roberts, Brvngwenal.lt, and in her party were Dr. Coleman and Mrs Coleman (sister of lakly Roberts), London. THE OFFICIALS. The- patrons and officials of' the show were: — Patrons: vEarl of Duntdo-nald', Cwryeh Castle; Lord Lieutenant of Flintshire (Mr H. R. Hughes of Kinmel): Sir J. The judges gave general satisfaction, and there were 110 disputes. As to the exhibits, the heavy horses were a particularly fine lot, the c.rre,atd-,St interest was centaed around the first class, agricultural or cart stallion. There were four splendid horses in the ring, and when the judges gave the first prize to Mr R. J. Davies' "Rcohwyn Forest King," then? was an out- burst of applause, showing that the farmers and others who watched the judging thoroughly agreed with the decision. The winner was de- clared' by the judges to be one of the finest colts they had ever seen, and they doubt.ed. whether there was a heavier two-vear-old in the country. It is an extremely weighty horse, and1 one of groat prorniee. The other competitors in the class weik-, also good, and the judges took great pains in making their award. The other heavy Horses were also a fine lot. The class for the bat imaro with foal at foot drew together a, number of very useful animals. Of the light horses, the judges rcmarked: that they halt jSfrver seen a; finer lot at A berglelc. and in this section in particular a steady jmlW(}v10ment was irotiee- ablo. Mr Robt.
