RHUDDLAN. THE PARISH CHURCH.- Services next Sun- day:—10 a.m., Welsh; 11 a.m. and 6 p.m., Eng- lish. CHRISTMAS DAY.—The services at church were bright and numerously attended A large number communicated. The cast end was nicely decorated, the flowers being sent by Mr Maxwell, THE BAPTISTS.—-Special services were held a.t the Baptist Chapel on Christmas Day, the special preachers including a lady. The Rev. Benjamin Evans, the pastor of the church, has gone on a visit to South Wales. FUNERAL. The funeral of Mr Robert Hughes took place on Thursday afternoon. Tho Rev. T. W. Vaughan (vicar) officiated at the house and the graveside, and there was a large attend- ance of mourners and friends. The chief mourn- ers were: Mr W. Stanley Hughcs (son), Mr R. Eyton Hughes (son), Carnarvon: Master Hart- well Hughes (son), Mr R. P. Davies (son-in-law), Birmingham: Mrs Ellris Ellis (sister-in-law), Llan- dderfel. Among those present were: Rev D. Davies (New Inn, who also officiated at the organ at the service), Robert Evans (Pcnybont), J. Parry, T. OWOTI, Mrs Lawrence, etc. The Phoenix Lodge of Druids were ako represented. Among the wreaths sent were some from the following:— Tho widow and sons. Miss Wvnno (Ealing, Lon- don), Rev. T. W. and Mrs Vaughan, Mr and Mrs R. P. Davios (Birmingham). RENT AUDIT.-ne rent audit dinner of the Bodrhyddan Estate takes- plaoc this (Thursday) evening, and a report will appear in next week's "Pioneer." THE NATIONAL SCHOOLS. On Friday afternoon the diocesan cer- tificates, gained in the examination held by tho Dioceran Inspector, together with the awards and prizes for regular at- tendance, given by the County Council, were distributed. The Rev. T. W. Vaughan, vicar, id,e<t and the c,rtificates and prizes prc" presented by Miss Roberts, Abbey House. At the close Mies Roberts fa d a few words to ths children, expressing her pleasure at their clean and bright appearance and good behaviour, and heartily wished them every success. Adda-esses were also given by the Vicar and Mr J. Roberts, who congratulated the winners upon their suc- cess, and the teachers upon the good results of their labours. Both the infants and th3 mixed school had passed, an excellent examination in Scripture. A hearty vote of thanks was passed on the mot:on of Mr Jos. Roberts, and seconded by the Vicar, to Miss Roberts for her presence and kindness in givng away the prizes.
