London Polo Show. Welsh Successes. AT the London Polo Show IQ,n Saturday- the keenest competition was, in the: Welsh, section., and a good class of mares was brought together. Messrs Jones and Son, of Dinarth Hall, whose Welsh ponies are known throughout tihe length and breadth of the land, held .as usual, a very strong hand, but their fa.m-ous mare Queen Bee, who was- last year's winner, was beaten by Y Fran- D-du, a black with fine quality and actiion. The stallions ,madl, a good class, andi it was a near thing between the Welsh p-on-y and the Fell pony, the two Changing places- more. than once, but eventually thie Welsh pony won. This was Mr Evan Jones' Gr-eylight, a grey, with very nice action. Lord Arthur Cecil's The Mikado, a black brown., is on a much larger scale, and i9 a handsome, powerful pony, but his action is perhaps scarcely as stylish as that of the winner.

Llanfair Rovers v. Conway. MONA'S BOYS DEFEATED. The return; League fixture between jthlese teams ■was played on the Conway Mbarfa om Saturday. Good weather prevailed, and the g-ro,und was in capital condition. The "gate" 'was. well over ,the average. The previous encounter—-a)t LlanJair-e-ndield in favour of Conway by fl,iire,e goals to two., On that oecasio.n the "Blues" were somewlhait ■diisorg anise d. Now, how ever, wbern they, were .able to place, their cup Iteam on the, field, it was hoped the margin would be materially -widened. In fact, the homesters- anticipated an easy win, and the natural result was fhat they by no means "swamped" their guests. Indeed, thiare were periods during the game wihien: the islanders as- serted their diecidledl superiordlcy—thanks to the over-confidence of their opponents1. The Game. S,and..ers, won th,e, toss, anid -elect?ed to, play up the slope d,uxio,- the flTS!t 'h?alf. The vis, itors eingin.eeting broke away sm!a-rtly, fh,e rightt w.-in,, a pretty little manoeuvre, -which was promtly upset by Ellis. Ends were twice changed at a hot pace. Priitchard, the -visiting cenfere, shone amongst the forwards. Within* fivte minutes Shem Jones forced a fruitless cornier off Lewis. Another abortive flag-kick was t'he result of smart work by J.R. During; ithe next few mrixLiultes the visitors were on the aggressive, and ctily the brilliant defence offer.edf by Ellis warded off defeat. Be:n Evans eventually cleared with onte: of his, notorious rushes, and a tricky bit of pllay between the1 home forrwaxd's ended in [hie Blues attacking vigorously. E. O. Davie's failed' to materialise from a splendid position. Two minutes -later C-onlwlay again attacked in spirited: fashion, but Davies algam mulled a lovely centre from his skipper. A finer attempt was'thait from L. H. Roberts which immediately followed, the feather on this occa- sion missing the goal by inches only. The Blues maintei'nled! their aggressive policy, and, i,ni a few seconds, Williams, the Llam.'Í'a:u:' ous- todian, was accorded a round1 of applause for a really .beaujciffull save off Sanders, juinr. It was noticed that while: this attack wa,si going on the home backs were nigtht oni top< of their own for- wards. TlbiSJ was. a,mistali,e which cost ftihie Blues a goal, because the moment the. ball wa's eleafred Pritchard found himself with a clever ruin for the Conway end, andl .thie proud' possessor of the first point of the day. After ten minutes of give-and-take play, J.R., L. H. Roberts, and Sanders, jusair., gave a tolerable exihihition of the passing game, the skipper improvrnng upon the whole with a stinger, which beat Williams all the way. Soon after- wards the 'home centre again led, the van in amokher business-like attack, and! that Williams olealrleidl the' piping pot d'itfected at him by Bob Owen was another proof of ihi's unmistakable abilities: in the net. Just as the rwhi stl e sounded hal'f-time the visitors were asserting1 themselves strongly. The -scores tlben stood: — Llanifair, i Conway, I. Conway Gain the Lead. With the; slope in their favour, the home stars were not long 'before getting into posifdom in the second1 moiety. The. halves. initiated two or three finel openings, all three men putting in some very good football. Five minuses had elapsed when the visitors conceded1 a corner. J.R.' seinit dm one' of his faultless (tires., and Sanders, sen., prrompHyaddedi the second point by headinig well ouir of Williams.' reach. Mona's itnen gallantly struggled, to equalise. again., Pritcihardl experiencing the worst possible luck with a well-directed shot, which skipped, over the ■aro:ss-bar with, a very small margin to spare. Returning once more to kheir opponents' enid the Conway forwards made things uncomfort- ably warm: for the visiting keeper. He was practically peppered! with shots, and he- covered himself with glory for the: brilliant fashion in which he negotiated one after tlhre other. At length, however, his colouirs were: once more lowered. The redoubtable: J.R. rapped across another centre with unerring accuracy, ,amc1: the third goal was: registered iJy the home captain. A minute1 lalter the .same player smashed: a slang- ing shot aglaiinslt the, bar, wihile füulr of the, for- wards' failed to take another centre' from their little ouside right. Thence until the' call of time Conway had things, much thet'r own, way, but they fai-led. to materialise, thanks to the magnificent wark of the, mGn in ^he- Llanfair met. Thle: final score was.: — Conway, 3; Llanfair1, i. The Con-,way telalm w'erg composed1 of: Llew. Parry, goal; Owen: Ellis: and IBob Jones, backs Shem Jones, Bob Owen, and, Ben' Evans, halves; J. R. Jones, L. H. Roberts, E. Sanders (ce,ntre), E. O.-Dlavies, and! W. Sanders, forwards. Referee Mr Hugh Hughes., Bangor. Notes on the Game. If Conway .mean t-o wirn: the junior cup next Saturday they must be prepared' to play better, football than they did on! this occasion. Whether it was from unwarranted! self- confidence, carelessness, or incompetlence, uniait their diisplay w:a,s disappointing is a fact. At times the forwards: were lamentably wanting inl resource, and no less conspicuous was the ab- sence -of that devil which marked—say, the, exhi- bifeion at Cdltwyn Bay., three1 Weeks: ago. T. R. Joines was the only man of the five who- was up to form. The halves worked splendidly, all three sharing it he labour and1 tlhe credit in equal proportions. Of the backs Ellis was the safer; Hah Jones .massed more kicks than usual. by the way, both men should be warned, againslc getting too close to. Itheiffl attacking line. This was a .mistake which, as already stated, cost the only goal .seoired again sit them on Saturday. Little Llew. was not over-bundetmed with work, but what was, damanded of himi was skilfully performed. The one feaJcure of the gamie was the wonderful goalkeiepng of D. J. Williams. Rarely, if ever, has a finer display of defensive work been given om the Morfa. Fist, head., and foot were equally ready, and everything was dome in a clean,, unhesitating fashion. Williams; was: ad- mirably supported by J. Letwis at back. Of the visiting forwards, Pritchard was the most con- spicuous." Fleck-footed, energetic, and argus-> eyed, he was for ever a source af danger to the home defence. The refereeing of Mr Hugh Hugheig was praiseworthy.

Llandudno v. Bangor. At Llandudno, before a good attendance. The: home team won the toss. Kenyon, kicked off, and1 Williams securing put the: ball well down, and Welch fastened on, but put behind. After the goal kfick the visitors came dfown in finie style, and the right wing then, let drive, the ball striking the crossbar, and Charlie Roberts draye the ballL out of danger. The home for- wards again secured, and mtade finle efforts to score, but the visitors'' defence 'was quite secure. The home team again pressed, and secured two successive corners, but to no avail. The visit- ors' rjght wing now broke away, but Hucmt cleared. The visitors again broke away, but Roberts fouled, and Edward to-ok th,e, flriee kick and sent right in;, but Jacob cleared. Wil- liams broke away, and sent in a beauty, which gave the visitors3 custodian no chance to' clear. Final result: .Bangor, '2; Llandudna, i.

Portmadoc v. Diuids. (WELSlHi AMATEUR CUP—SEMI-FINAL.) Played at Bangor, before a big crowd, and in fine weathler. Portmadoc played a dashing game, cheered oni by their sympathisers, and early on G. Davdtes drove a beauty clean into the goal, which, hlis namelsake cleared smartly. A visit to. 'the other end was, quickly .followed by a renewal of tihe Port, attack, and1 gai.ning, a free ki ckin the penalty area, the, ball was gramdiy dropped: in front aff the Druids' goal., where J. Davies gently shoved! it tinco the net five minutes from the .start. Thte. Druids at once attacked with ovierpO'Wteiii.ng dorce, and exÓtlng bullies followed a ..succesisicxm of corners, out otf wiiuch, after five miinutes' wild kicking, the Mado-cites emerged unscathed and 'ag.g:res'$vle, and several good attempts were defeated. Thien the Druids advanced again and secured a piemalty, which D. Owen safely planted in the met, thus equalising. The Druid's again attacked, and shot over finely, but the Port retaliated, and gained am abortive: corner. Final: Druids., 3 goals:; Portmadoc, i goal.

Scotland v. Wales. AN EXCITING GAME ENDS IN A DRAW. Established as far back as' 1876, this, the twenty-ninth annual m,altch between, these cottn- tries, was played! at Dens Park, Dundee, in magnificent weather and oni a soft ground. No fewet, than five, of the Welsh team originally chosen had tOaTY off for various reasons1. On the Scottish side only one alteration- had to' be ,e, de,d.0 '.Flhe many c-ha,n,grz?s, no dio, ubt, d?e- tra,?? _,?e?? nt fr:am th,a ir,,te,re-sL taken t no little exte in thie contest. Still, the local, enthusiasts do not often see Ian international game., and the- at- tendance could not -have been less than 20,000. The bonne captaini -worn the toss, and Green, kicked' off for the visitors. The Scottish wing fastened on the ball, -and were attacking wlheni Hughes smartly inteir:pos.e:d', and- bis forwards assumed a threatening a)spect; but J. Robertson, the home half, saved the situation. R. Walker, however, with a smart shot, sccred for Scotland five miilllutels from the start. The difficulty in maintaining a. footing was apparent, but it was soon manifeSit .that" the game would prove, a fast one, and! would be evenily contested. The Scots, hea,ded by R. Walker., made a furious as- sault orn the, Welsh goal, and1 through am error of Davies they n'early had the ball through. A corner, however, resulted, from which, thlei ball went behind..However, the visitors had theiLr turn immediately, and Sharp, the: home, back, allowed the Welsih right wing :to sliip past, and Davies wound up with a well-aimied s'hot, which just mis-sed the posts. Some: clever passing between the two Walkers brought .tlhe- Scots into their opponents' territory. When taking a pass fromn 'Bennett J. Walker wias given off-sid,e-a welcome, relief to Davies, the visiting custodiani. At this stage it was clear the- Welsh forwards were lacking in combination, and let slip valu- ,able opportunities. Tlhere- was no questiomling, however, the ability of Green, at centre, while Wfatkins also was- playing a good game. For fully twenty minute's Skene, the home- custodian, did not handle1 thle ball, and during this time: the citadel of the: Principality had several narrow es- capes. J. Walker particularly being: most ag- lve 41.n ?sh,oioting. A few iin?' !u,tes la!t?e.r a ?'Te'S?S in fast shot from tihe.,fo,ot,of Wilson wa's just cleared in time by Davie's rather luckily, and- BreillnfeH immediately afterwards gave- J. Walker a grand chance, of -which he failed to -avail himself. The Scots -rather overdid, -the passing1 -and1 dribbling, and let the Welshmen up'on- thtam-. From, a free- kick the Scots were- .nearly .successful, but Davies rose: toi the occasion, anidi repelled' Macfarlame, Bennett, ,and R. Walker. The Welsh goalkeeper was loudly cheered: for his brilliant saving. At the change of enids Scot- land still led: by a goail to. none. it -ie? Sciots on r-sumli;n,- for A surp?.ri-s,e, awa' e,dt,tl b, from a tricky piece of play by Atherton and Morris the formler s,eized his opportunity, and equalised from close: -range. Scotland at the time was playing a man -short. R. Walker, who had been, taken) ill, did not reappear in, this half. The vVelJShmaini now played a much-improved game, their forwards combining better and at- tacking wit'h more foroe. Atherton) -nearly had another goal, and now the Scots had- their share ,of defensive- work. The. Welsih forwards were .giving the 'home t'elam plenty- of defe-nsiv-e tactics, and caused m'uch anxiety to their supporters. Indteed, the Soots were, disorganised for a time, and, the weakness seemed general. Jackson at full-back and Robertson at half played grandly. Walker's lahslence was felt. Richards, Hughes, :andl Jiomes, the Welsh halves, wouil.d let nothing past them. A cornier fell to the visitors, and Green gave .Skene a rasper to' iStüp, which the Queen's Park goalkeeper did cleverly. How- ever, towards the close- thie Scots: revived. Neither -siidb could improve its. ip'os/itio-n. and1 t'bq game ended in ,a draw, each side scoring omle goal. Teams: — Scotland: Skene- (Queien'.s Park), goal; Jack- son. How Draughts Affect the Oven. WHAT oven, oCouild do its work if for a, few moments an icy blaist were blowing upon it, the next few a wave of heat, the next a cloud of steam, and ISO on? Every woman knows, that it would spoil anything put into it. Yet scores of women, and men too, -expect the delicate organs of the human body to do unaidedl what cast-iron can't do. Digestion, like am oven, needs a steady heat—a heat of about 100 degrees. The liver needs to be at nearly the' same: heat. Yet wo-mien run from a hot kitchein to hang clothes on the lime outside go from before a hot fire in -a warm, room to make the beds and -sweep: a cold antic, ,andl th,en wonder why they have caught a chill and why they have indigestion. To know how these ailments are contracted is not -so im- portant as to know that Chas. Forde's bile beans cure them, however they m'ay have been con- tracted. :Mrl9 Aninie Light, of COUlne Five, Catharine-street, Aston, says:My daughter. Alice Maud, got wet an-d caught a chill. Th-i s reduced her tn a weak, helpless state. Her ap- petite fell off, she was always cold, and seemed altogether ',r:ullJ down.' We -gavel her a course of bile beams, and they seemed to toine her up wonderfully. In a. short- time- -all traces of her illness left her, and she is now quite well. In- deed, 'she is in better health: now than she has been for a long time." From Rose.rea, Ireland, comes a similar tribute to bile beans. Mr Paltrick Mahe-r says:- "While working in. a bog I got my feet wet, got a thorough chill, and was laid up- for some time. My whole system! seemed! disordered, and I began t0, suffer the painIs of rheumatism. For • four months I was im bed, and for several weeks I could not bear the bed-clothes to. touch my feele or legs, they were so painful. I took doctors' medicines until I was sick of them. When I tried bile, beans I -soon- felt a .,d:iffeir-ence. By persevering with them: I was eventually quite cured, and I have kept well and hearlty since." March, is the month 'which' trie.s the system more than any other. Warm days, followed by biting east winds, find, out the- weak places. Bile beans not only strengthen those weak places but clear 'the system, .from, disease which has entered thereby, as the above cases show. Obtainable from: medic ne vendors everywhere.
