YSTRADGYNLAIS FRUIT AND FLOWER SHOW. Large Entries Fine Exhibits. FULL LIST OF AWARDS. The fourth annual exhibition in connec- tion with the Cynlais Horticultural So- ciety, Ystradgynlais, took place on Thurs- day last in a marquee specially erected for thejpurpose in the Park, and favoured with beautiful weather, the event was very successful. The entries, numbering over 300, constitut-ed a record, and the flowers, fruit, vegetables and plants shown were of a very hih order. Par- ticularly good were some of the classes in fruit and vegetables, apples, beans and peas being exceptionally fine, and the masses of bloom and vegetation were the subjects of great admiration on the part of those who attended. A further feature that attracted much attention was a fine sturdy tomato plant, bearing lovely fruit, grown in the open-air by Mr. Dan Eva.ns, Brecon Road. Burgess, a Surrey County Council judge, said long beet was a vege- table like a thermometer, and showed how a ma.n cultivated his land. Samuel Reos was charged with being drunk and disorderly in Oddfellow st., on 31st July, and also doing wilful damage to a cell window, valued at 5s. P.C. A. 50 proved the case. P.S. Evans said that when he charged the defendant with having broken the cell window he replied. "I don't know what I did last night." Defendant was fined 5s. and costs for being drunk, and ordered to pay the damage to the cell window. The magistrate had asked all of the customary questions about taking" this ma-n" or "this woman" for a lawful, wedded companion, and about "promising to love, honour, and obey." The cere- mony was ifnished. The couple were married. The bridegroom, a Western Kentuckian, started to reach for his wal- let. Then he stopped. "Squire," ha said, "I got a proposition to make to ye.
