There was a large attendance on each evening, amd all appreciated the per- formapces given. The Publio Hall was packed with people oni Monday evening last on ttie occasion of a highly entertaining mlS- cellaneous concert given by convales- _cent soldiers and nurses of the Quarr Hospital. Sergt. Crisp presided. The progra-mme was of a varied descrip- tion, a.nd consisted of songs both senti- mental and humorous by Nurse John, Sergts. Crisp, Hillen and Hoadley, Petty Officer Johnstone, Ptes. Simp- son, Taylor, Boyle, Pace, Bryne and I-Irge, attractive tableaux by Sister Astley and nurses, irresistible sketch i hv the "Boys," atn/j an orchestra by Pte. Rex Pace and Troupe. The hit of the evening was scored by Pte. Large, whose humorous contributions brought him an insistent recall. Nursc LesMe, Pte. S. Ruaadle and Mr D. I Rees were the accompanists. All the contributors to the evening's enter- taimment were in finje form. and the heart- manner in which the andi.-i-e j applauded showed their warm ap- preciation of the efforts made. At a patriotic mectfrng held under the auspices of the local S. and S. Reception Committee at Elim, Craig- <iefnparc, on Tuesday evening, Signal- ler Oliver Williams and Ptes. Emrys Lewis and Albert Bowdeni were hon- on red on the occasion of their visit homo on olcoave. Mr Tom Jones pre- sided. On behalf of the Reception Committee, Mr Hopkin Evans pre- sentej Pte. Bowden with a dressilng case, Mr Evan Jones presented Pte. Lewis ii-it-li a gift of money, and Mr David Lewis presented Signaller Wil- lianis with a wristlet watch. Poetical I contributions were made during the evening by Messrs. Evan Jones and Tom Jones, songs were contributed by Miss Sarah J.
