Amongst th ose present at the funeral were deceased's fellow scholars of the Ystalyfera C'euhty School. Miss Davies was 17: t.?a'rs of a.ge, and had been in failing !h?th &rv some time. Mills, painter and decorator, Railway terrace, Alltwwn, met with a rather serious accident last week-end, while oarying out a contract • at the Old Reading Room, Pontardawe. Mr Mills fell from the top of a ladder, a dis- taraoe of about 30 feet, breaking his cright ann and left anklc-. We hope he will have a speedy recovery. The funeral of the late Mrs. Alie.e Lowis, All-tvcl-taini road, who died last week at the age of 54, after a long and painful illness', took place on Saturday at St. Peter's churchyard. The funeral was attended by gentle- men only, and the Revs. Joel J. Davies and J. Williams officiated. A presemtatibn m-eeting to Sapper Robert Preece, R. E., of Swansea road who recently came home from France, took place at St. Peter's Schoolroom on Tuesday, ,the 19tll ult., when the Rev. J. Williams presided. On Wednesday evening at Alltwen Chapel, the Rev. Ben Davies, Pajit- teg, lectured on "Barddoniaeth Wat- cyn Wyn," under the auspices of the Young People's Society. The Rev. W J. Rees presided, and Mr Davies' lec- ture, which was ably delivered, was thoroughly enjoyed. A lecture will be given shortly at Alltwen in aid of Mr Morgan Rees, when the Rev. J. J. The lecture was thoroughly enjoyed, and a large number of disabled sold- iers and sailors attended. A highly interesting lantern lecture was given at the Mission Hall on Wedne^dav evening, when Mr B. Lion?! ttolf. Board of Agriculture Inspector, lectured- on. "Wart Disease and Potato Swaying. "The leeture was most educative." Mr J. Ernest Leiris presided. v
