I MAKKETS. I LONDON CORN. MONDAY—ENGLISH WHEAT. --Ti-ade was -Triall.- and the hot weather pre- vented the development of greater activity fol- lowing last, week's holiday conditions. The at- tendance was fair: English milling lots ranged up to 34s. 6d., and rods up to 33s. 6d. per qr. FOREIGN WHEATS. There was a light trade, and the tendency of prices was in buyers' fav- our No. 1 Northerns, 36s. 6d.; No. 2 ditto, 36s.: No. 3 ditto. 35s. 6d,. all landed: Austra- lian, 38s. 6d. Indian, 37s. 3d. upwards; Rus- sian, 33s. 6d. upw.tnfc landed; Plate, 34s. 6d. to 35s. upwards ex ship. MAIZE.—The demand was poor. in common with thnt for other feeding stuffs, but prices wt-e fairly maintained: Plate. 24a 6d. landed. LONDON CATTLE, MONDAY.—Beast entries on to-day's market numbered 840, an increase of 270 over last Monday. Trade was bad, owing to the hot weather, and the tendency of prices, even for fine bullocks. was in buyers' favour. A few Scotch offered, but were rather nominal at 5s. 2d. to over; Devons, 5s. to 5s. 2d.; Nor- folks, 4s. lOd. to 5s. 2d.; shorthorns. 4s. 8d. to 5s. Fat slaughtering cows and bulls cleared quietly, the former being quoted at Ss. lOd. to 4s. 2d., and the latter at 3s. 6d. to 4s. Twenty milch cows offered, and the best were held for 223 each. Five thousand one hundred and seventy sheep were penned in the market. an increase of 1.590. LONDON PROVISIONS, MONDAY.—Butter dull: Danish, 114s. to 118s.; Normandy, 110s. to 122s. Australian, 90s. to 106s,; Argentine, 90s. to 108s.; New Zealand, 100s. to 108s.; Russian, 90s. to 104s. per cwt. Cheese firm: Canadian, 66s. to 70s.; Dutch, 60s. to 74s. per cwt. Bacon steady: Irish, 68s. to 80s.; Continental, 60s. to 76.i. per cwt. Hams firm: American, 70s. to 82s. per cwt. Eggs quiet. BRADFORD WOOL, MOXDAY. The market i" exceedingly ifrm, and since the holidays top- makers have sold so heavily that they are now quite indifferent. Merinoes show a tendency against, the buyer, average sixty-fours command- ing 2s. 6d., and the better article one halfpenny more. Fine crossbreds are fully in sympathy but medium and lower sorts are simply marking time. English wools are firm, and there is < steady trade in finer wools. — 1
