BARMOUTH SUPPORTS DOLGELLEY.…
BARMOUTH SUPPORTS DOLGELLEY. Barmouth supports Doigelley in the high opinion expressed by the following resident of our neighbouring town, Dolgelley, for many of our own towns- people have told of similar experiences. Mr H. Pugh, of 8, Park Row, opposite the Police Station, Dolgelley, says:— "Through catching cold my back was often painful across the kidneys. I had been subject to this sort of trouble, on and off, some time. I bad rheumatism, too, in my fingers. I am pleased to say, however, that I have always found Doan's backache kid- ney pills very effective. My back is well now, but I shall use Doan's pills again if necessary, for they are excellent. (Signed) H, Pugh." Colds and chills throw a heavy butden on the kidneys, because they close up the pores, so that the impurities which should pass out through the skin have to be disposed cf by the kidneys. Colds are, therefore, one of the commonest causes of serious kidney and bladder disorders and it is desirable to take a course of Doan-s backache kidney pills during convalescence from a cold or influenza. This assists the kidneys in the extra work thrown upon them, and safeguards you from backache, rheumat- ism, dropsy, gravel and distressing urinary disorders. Price 2/9 a box 6 boxes, 18/9 of all dealers, or from Foster, McClellan Co., 8, Wells-street. Oxford-street, Lon- don, W. Don't ask for Backache and Kidney Pills—ask distinctly for Doait's Backache Kidney Pills, the same as Mr Pugh had. -————.

THROTTLING OUR HOLIDAY RESORTS.
THROTTLING OUR HOLIDAY RESORTS. WHY should not our holiday towns be placed upon a footing to compete with foreign resorts for the patronage of the British holiday maker? Part of the answer to this question is that Mr Herbert Samuel objects. He is Mr Burn's successor as Presi- dent of the Local Government Board, and it is this public De- partment which is most directly concerned in the Bill which was before the House of Commons the other day to enable borough and urban district councils.to spend sums not exceeding a rate of a penny in the pound in adver- tising their localities as health and holiday resorts. Let. as begin by dismissing as unworthy of a Cabinet Minister Mr Samuel's comment that the chief benefit that would flow from the Bill would be to increase the advertising revenue of news- papers, Obviously anything that benefits the community at larger must benefit itsnewspapei^Press.! The real question is the prosper- ity of our holiday and health re- sorts. Many of them are a reve- lation to foreigners, who every I year in increasing numbers are visiting this country. We have a most wonderful variety of seen- ery we have resorts which are equally varied in the benefits they confer from a health point of view; while as far as sports and other recreations are concerned there is plenty to suit all tastes. But England is still an unde- veloped, if not an unknown, land in regard to its resources and attractions for the holiday maker. Development is possible only by one means—advertising. It is an affectation of superfine minds, of so-called "superior persons" f to look down upon advertising as something vulgard. But with- out advertising there would be little chance for enterprise in business, or little progress in 'I, c?, i.)ro g ress in civilisation.
