barmouth ¡ BARMOUTH The Visitors Service.—This weekly service held at the English Congrega- tional Church on Wednesday evening last was conducted by the Pastor, the subject of the discourse was" Stead- fastness in face of calamity." Lecture.—On Monday evening last, at the Wesleyan Chapel, a lecture was given by the Rev. Frank Ballard, D.D., M.A., B.Sc., F.R.M.S., on "What Christ has done for the ages." The Coronation Band.—On Tuesday night, the Coronation Bdnd paraded the street and played, a selection of music previous to the patriotic meeting held at the Belle Vue Hall. The Band was under the leadership of Mr W., E. Williams, Liverpool House. Church Concert.—The annual Church Concert was held at the Church Hall on Thursday evening last and was a great success. The following artistes took part in the programme :—Miss Gertie Lloyd, Miss Elsie Lloyd, Miss Olive Dennis, Miss A. S. Griffith, Miss McAnally, Dr. J. R. Heath, Mr E. N. Crompton, Mr Edgar Williams, Mr P. G. Blake, Mr Thompson, Mr Stanley Jones, and the Royal Magnets. The Empire Serenaders. The Empire Serenaders continue every day and evening te hold their delightful entertainments, and their popularity steadily increases. They inagurated this present week in a manner that showed that they have in no way abated their eager efforts to please their numerous auditors. To-night (Thurs- day) Mr Randolph Sutton, Mr Will Woodward, and the Criccieth Concert Party will appear at the Alfresco Pavilion. On Friday night there will be a grand old-fashioned Minstrel Entertainment. On Saturday night, by request, a ladies beauty competition will take place. Splendid prizes will be offered for the prettiest young ladies in Barmouth and district over the age of 17 years. Entrance to be made at the Pavilion.
