All orders will be esteemed and prompt- ly attended to. The Army.—Mr J. B. Mendbam, son of Mr C. A. Mendbam, Mount Argus, has received his commission as 2nd Lieutenant in the Royal Welsh Fusiliers (Territorial Army) and has been sent to Northampton. Private V. St. G. Hewins has been gazetted as 2nd Lieutenant in the 7th Battalion of the Royal Welsh Fusiliers. Kitchener's Army.—Last Friday two young men from Dyn'ryn, Isaac Pugh and Edward Roberts, joined Lord Kitchener's Army, and left for Wrex- bam. On Monday morning Messrs William Morris, Tanyfedw; John Gar- nett, Mount Windsor, and Robert Scott Vaugbton, Barmoutb Junction, left for Rbyl to join the North Wales Battalion Royal Welsh Fusihers (Kitchener's Army). On Sunday last, Mr Thomas Williams, Beach Road, left to join the Royal Naval Brigade Motor Corps. On Monday night, Mr William Finnigan, Water Street, who had been home for a few days, left for Liverpool, and his Regiment, King's Own (Liverpool is expected to leave for active service very shortly. Generosity.- We are glad to and that our old Barmoutb boys are net behind in doing their share in contributing towards the war funds, as we under- stand that Mr Thomas Freeman, Noriih- wicb, has subscribed the handsome sum of 40 guineas. The Barmouth Unit.—It is requested that all those who intend to join the Barmoutb Drilling Unit to present themselves at the Masonic Hall for a tree discussion at 8 o'clock to-night (Thursday). The Snowdrop Band.—A meeting was held on Friday at the Caersalem school- room. The hymns were given out by Misses Maggie Edwards and Eitty Evana. Miss Sarah Dilys Jones read a psalm. Mrs Morgan, Ballymacora,e;ave a splendid address on 'Truatwortbinesss' which the girls very much appreciated. Woman's Tomparance Union.—A prayer meeting was held at Ebenezer Schoolroom on Tuesday afternoon. Wo had a very good meeting, and pleased to see so many present. A resolution was passed to send to the Chief Constable to lessen the boars of the public houses. Next meeting wilt be held Dec. 1st., Bible Society Report.—The annual meeting of the Barmoutb Branch of the British and Foreign Bible Society was held on Tuesday night at the Church Hall. The chair was taken by the Rev. E. J. Parry, Wesleyan Minister. The Rev. WeIIsley Jones, B.A., B.D., the recently appointed deputation, gave an excellent address which was listened to with great attention. The Rector and the ministers of the town took part in the proceedings. The meeting was the best attended for years. The French Language.—The utility and necessity of being conversant with the French language is more keenly felt to-day than ever. At the request of several townspeople, a French Class has been formed in the town for be- ginners and those who are desirous ot improving their French knowledge. Terms very moderate. — Apply, S. Red Cross Sewing Committee.—The weekly meeting took place as usual on Tuesday last at the Belle Vue Hal), and the following garments were banded in :—Five shirts, 12 pairs socks, 8 pairs muttons, 1 pair gloves, 1 body belt, 1 pair pyjamas, and 3 scarves (knitted by the. School Children at the Council School). The subscriptions and other gifts for the week.end were as follows:—W. W. Not acknowledged last week, Miss Richards, Greenbill, 1 pair gloves. Dur- ing last week Mrs Heath despatched to London a large number of garments. Great thanks are duo to the Barmoutb ladies for their energetic and beautiful work, which continues to come in steadily week by week.
