.NATIONAL CONFERENCE.
NATIONAL CONFERENCE. We should like to direct the attention of our public men to the responsibility which rests on their shoulders in connection with the WeishNational Conference which is to meet at Shrewsbury on Fri- day, the 25th of February, to pro- mote the Scheme for the welfare of Welsh Soldiers and Sailors, and their dependents. They have it in their power to put fresh life and vigour into our fighting men by attending the Conference, and thus showing their determination that they shall suffer no avoid- able hardships for the sacrifices they have made, or to fill them with a sense of disappointment by failing to attend. Attendance at Shrewsbury may involve some sacrifice, both of time, and money, but as General Owen Thomas so tersely puts it, "such a sacrifice "will be, after all, only a slight "one as compared with that of our fellow-countrymen, who have been ready to sacrifice life, health, and happiness, at the call of their honour, their King, ? and their God." We hope that General Owen Thomas' hopes may be fulfilled, and that the attendance at Shrewsbury will be large, and representative enough to make it worth while to print a list of the names of all present, to send to our brave fellow-countrymen in the Trences, so that they may have some cause to rejoice amids-t all their hardships, that our sense of gratitude is sufncientfy strong to make their future, and the future of those dear to them, a, matter for the care of the Welsh Nation. We trust also that the number of cards returned to General Thomas, expressing approval of, and promising support for the Scheme, will be large enough to enable him to say at Shrewsbury that An united Wales stands ? behind our men in the fighting line." On Tuesday, the Bar- mouth Council appointed one representative to attend the con- ference.
