Festival.—It has been decided to hold the CAlvinistic Metbodist Annual Sing- ing Festival for the Dyffryn and Talsarnau district at Barmouth next May, the conductor being Mr J. T. Rees, Aberystwyth. Auotion.-On Wednesday next, Mr Walter Lloyd Jones will conduct an important sale of household furniture at Cartref Baeb, on Panorama Walk. Sale to commence at 1 p.m. prompt. Aircraft.—On Tuesday, whilst Coast- watcher William Junes, Minafon, was ob duty at 4.30 p.m., be sighted an air. craft off the Bardsey Island and reported same to the Admirality Officer (Mr Mollinson) who is in charge of the Bar- mouth district. Later in the evening the aircraft was seen proceeding north wards and was witnessed by hundreds of the inhabitants and visitors. The Local Tribunal. 'A'' meeting of the Local Tribunal was held at the Council Office at 4 p.m. on Thursday last, the Rev. B. Lloyd Roberts, M.A., R.D., presiding. Others present were Messrs Edward Williams, J. Pryce Jones, John Jones, The Library; Henry Freeman, David Jones and Thomas Qriffith; with Mr Thomas W. Piggott (military representative), and Mr R. Llewelyn Owen (clerk).-There were twelve appeals, all with one exception married men. Conditional exemptions were granted in the case of appellants who were employed in excempted occu- pations auieh as agrioaltare. The rest were granted till the 30th of September. Military Wedding.—A pretty military wedding was solemised at the Caer- salem Chapel on Friday morning when Second-Lieutenant, D. Caradoc Evans, of the 3/7bb R.W.F., Whittington Camp, near Oswestry, was married to Miss JKatie D. Jones, Minafon. The pastor of the church (Rev. J. Gwynpro Davies) I pet f<>. nvd I If ceremony. The brides- maids were M'ss Jennie Jones (sister of the bi-id,-), Miss Mai»• Wynne, Glany- mor (niece), and Miss Hughes, Widnes, whilst Liputen?nt Einion EVRn, Dol. g?tt?y (cousin) actpd as bestman. The chapel was beautifully decorated with flowers and evergreens. The guests were many, and were entertained at the Waverley Cftfé, where speeches and well-wishes were expressed. The bappy pair left by motor to spend their honey- moon on the North Wales coast. Killed in Action.—The sad news was received on Monday of the death of Second Lieutenant Robert Griffith Rees, youngest son of the late Rev. William Rees, and Mrs Cordelia Edwards-Rees, London, late of Barmoutb, who was killed in action dnring the recent heavy charge, at the early age of 25 years. Lieutenant Rees gave up a splendid position and joined the London Welsh, and was one of the officers in charge of the contingent of soldiers who made the route march through Merionethshire about twelve months ago. He is well. known in Barmouth (the native place of his mother), and highly respected by all who came in contact with him. General' sympathy is felt with his sorrowing mother and family. The Barmouth Library.-Tbe Quarter- ly Meeting of the above institution was held on Wednesday last, under the presidency of Mr J. R. Williams, London City and Midland Bank. There were also present; Rev. R. Lloyd Roberts, M.A., R.D., Rev Gwynor6 Davies, Dr. J. Pugh Jones, Mr Henry Freeman, Mr EdWard Davies, Mr Morris G. Roberts, and Mr J. Jones (Secretary).—The reports of the Finance, Book, Billiard and Works Committees were submitted and adopted.- In stibmitting his quarter report for quarter ending June 30tb, 1916, the Secretary pointed out that notwithstanding the fact that a large number of members bad joined the colours, the working of the institution had been most successful, the financial balance far exceeding that of the corresponding period of last year.—It was reported that a large number of books,,including a complete set of John Strange Winter's works,had been presen- ted to the circulating department by Mr Fairfax Brown, Brynmynach. The Secretary was directed to convey the committee's most hearty vote of thanks to the donor.—Attention was called by the Rev. Gwynoro Davies to the lamen- ted fact that already a number of our brave oseh had fallen in the great cause 1: of freedom and humanity, both on land and sea, and it was possible, though they all fervently prayed that it would not be the case, that others would yet saorifice themselves for their King and country. In his Opinion, it behoved the, townspeople to band to- gotber and comtemplate some worthy form of memorial to commemorate the bravery and courage of our noble lads who bad gallantly laid down ,their lives in the cause of justice and freedom. He considered that such a memorial ought to.be,abo,ve all cree 'da, sects and classes, and he thought that the Library was the only public institution in the town that exactly answered this description. As men and women of every shade of religion 'and politics were among its members, he suggested that the com- mittee should take the matter in hand. The Rev. R. Lloyd Roberts, while he expressed himself in accordance with the sentiments put forth by the last speaker, said that he considered the matter premature. At the present time they had not the faintest idea. of what the final results might be.—After further discussion it was conceded that it was premature to come to any final decision, and the matter was left in abeyance for the present. Red Cross Annual Report.-Commen- cing on November 17th, 1915, and ending on June 1st, 1916, a very success- ful season was brought to a close, and as a result, the following articles have been sent to the headquarters of the British Red Cross :-87 dtiv shirts, 27 night shirts, 17 pyjamas, 123 jug cover*, 514 dusters, 300 towels, 27 p.vjama ties, 310 pairs of day socks, 108 pairs of night; socks, 87 pairs of mittens and cuffs 195 scarves, 42 bed jackets, 6 pairs nf gloves, 1 dressing gown, 7 helmets, 72 cups, 4 floor clot lis, 154 hot water bottle covers, 4 cushions, 4 games, 2 pairs of hospital slippers, 153 walking sticks, 1732 roller bandages, old linen, etc. In all, the local commmittee liave sent 3976 articles from Barmouth this past winter season, as against 1700 the previous winter, so the women here are doing their "bit" for tba big push. The subscribers have not been. many, but the sale in aid of the fund realized 170 10s. Od. There were two concerts, given by the Butt-Rumford Concert Company and the Belgian Society, which very greatly helped ^natters along. We are greatly indebted to our members who have worked splendidly and un- tiringly, to the Rector for the use of the Church Hall for the sewing meetings, to the hon. auditor, to the proprietor of the Advertiser for so kindly puting in our weekly reports, and to many of the townspeople who have given us help in many ways. A list of the members who have qualified for Red Cross certificates for work accomplished this season will appear shortly. not lost, but gone before." î It is with the deepest regret we have to announce the passing away of Mrs Margaret Jones, of 4, Craigydon Cottage, after a long illness. She was a native of Gwynfryn, and was born there 68 years ago. Having married the late Mr Robert Jones, she lived at Ganllwyd, Dolgelley, Penmaen, Bodowen, and Barmouth, where he died eight years ngo. She spent last winter in Birmingham with her daughters, but- returned in March having been taken ill. Though her illness was a very trying one, yet during the long weeks she showed true Christian fortitude and calm submission to the will of God. It was a means of grace to visit her, and she continued to the very end thoughtful and tender-hearted, always thinking of other people's troubles She was a devoted mother, a kind and sym- pathetic nurse, and was highly esteemed by all. The church at Siloam mourns the loss of a faithful member: she was regular in all her religious duties when in health, and during her illness kept up her interest in the cause which was so dear to her. Who can find a virtuous woman ? for her price is far above rubies. She openeth her mouth with wisdom and in her tongue is the law of kindness. She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. Her children arise up, and call her blessed, A woman that fearetb the Lord, she shall be praised." She died early on Sunday morning, and was buried at Llanaber on Tuesday, the Rev. P. H. Lewis officiating. Much sympathy is expressed with her nine children in their sore bereavement:— Mrs Hughes, Holyhead; Mrs Mitson, Cowbridge; Mrs Warren and Mrs Brewer, Birmingham: Miss Ann Jones, Morfa Lodge, Portmadoc; Mr John Jones, Bettwsycoed Mr Robert Jones, Wrexham and Misses Mary and Nellie Jones, Craigydon. Beautiful wreaths and bunches of flowers were sent by the following:- Maggie, Lizzie, Ernie, and Willie, Bir- mingham; Evelyn, Birmingham Mrs Roberts, Talybont Factory; Major, Mrs and Miss Breese, Morfa Lodge. Mr and Mrs Chalk, Glanmawddach Mr and Mrs Harold Dudley; Phyllis Wellings; Miss Brown, Shrewsbury; Kathleen and Darley Rogers; Mrs Fleet, Chester. The duties of undertaker were carried out by Mr Richard Roberts, Ivy House. "Not lost, but gone before."

NETLEY HOSPITAL FLAG DAY. Arrangements were made by Miss I Dolly Richards, Green Hill, efficiently assisted by willing supporters, fora Flag Day for the benefit of the Welsh Hospital at Netley to take place in the surrounding district on Wednesday and in the town of Barmouth, on Saturday last. Wednesday was a wet and un. favourable day, yet the appointed ladies braved the, elements and worked the districts with the following result: a. d. LLWYNGWRIL. A proof of the Cliot-otigliness with which the woik was done is to be found in the ritet that the total sum collected in penny and three penny flag sales amounted to over X27, a truly creditable sum, collected in a quiet unobtrusive manner as ladies can and are working at the present time to help to bring the war to an end.
