With a view to increasing the production of potatoes on allotments, in cottage gardens, and on small holdings throughout England and Wales, the Board of Agriculture and Fisheries have prepared a schen for the distribution of seed pototoes from Scotland and other approved parts of the United Kingdom and from Ireland. The Committee above named are entrusted with the distribution of this seed in this county. The results obtained in different parte of the country from the planting of new seed potatoes, such as the Board now contemplate supplying, ha.s usually been most satisfactory, the yield of the crop being very substantially increased in quantity and improved in quality. Those who desire to be included in the list of in- tending purchasers and who have not already intimated that desire to the Committee's "En- quirers," should comm'inicate in writing at once with Mr R. E. Hav;d Williams, The Elms, Struet, Brecon. Application List Closes Monday Next, February 12th, at 11 a.m. Only offers to purchase received before 11 turn., Monday, the 12th inst., can be considered. Those who have already made application through the Enquirers will receive a communication by post. The Committee will purchase only the seed of the best- grade known as "Class 1 Scotch or Irish Seed," and the varieties will be limited strictly to those shown below. The potatoes will be delivered at convenient centres, in most classes the Railway Stations near- est to the purchasers' homes. They will be delivered in bags, each containing 1 cwt. Not less than 1 cwt. nor more than 5 cwt. can be delivered to any one purchaser. Those desiring parts of a cwt. should arrange with others to share a one-hundred weight lot. The ca-sh for the potatoes to be supplied must be pa.id to the Committee's Distributing Agent either before or at the .time of delivery Bit the Distributing Centres. No potatoes cam be delivered without such payment. Purchasers will be informed in due course as to the names af the Distributing Agents and the Dis- tributing Centres. The Committee cannot undertake any liability or responsibility to the purchasers in regard to the nan-arrival, or the quality or quantity of the seed. They are hopeful, however, thiat tile careful ar- rangements now being made will result in a satis- factory supply. Should anything happen to render it impractic- able to provide the proposed supply of seed pota- toes, the Committee will -as soon as possible, take steps to inform intending purchasers accordingly. If the potatoes do not arrive at the Distributing Centres, the intending purchasers will not be call- ed upon to pay for them. Intending purchasers should sia.te which of the other varieties named they would select if it hap- pens that their first choice cannot be supplied. Consequent upon an order relating to Wart Dis- ease in potatoes, no potatoes can be planted in the following area—the Parish of Ystatedgynliais Ijower (with the exception of the farms in the Electoral Divisions of Palleg East and Palleg West) except by a, license of the Board of Agriculture and Fish-. eries, which license will be readily given provided only varieties immune to this disease are planted. Varieties numbered (6) and (7) below, tare im- mune varieties." Varieties (1) to (5) are not immune. Intending purchasers should state definitely the variety and quantity (in hundredweights) required, and their nearest Railway Station. Such re- quisition.s will be treated as firm offers to purchase.
