BRITONFERRY LANDLORD. ow SERVANT GIRL'S STORY OF A BEDROOM I INCIDENT. A well-known Briton Ferry man, in the person of Albert J. Jones, landlord of the Whita Lion Hotel, was the de- fendant in a paternity case which was heard before the Deputy-Stipendiary at ¡ Mountain Ash Police Court. The com- plainant was Catherine Savage, who re- sides with her parents in Thomas-st., Miskin. Mountain Ash, and w hose ease ¡ wa.s presented by Mr. Wm. Kenshole, of Aberdare. Mr. Trevor Hunter (ia- i struefced by Mr. Perkins, of Aberavonj, vras for the .defence. In her evidence Miss Savage, a pre- possessing young woman of 19, said a male child was born on the 28th of Isust March. Albert J. Jones waJ;he father of the child. She went into service at the White Lion Hotel, Briton Ferry, on the 12th of January, 191.1. On 6th Tuesday. 6th May, 11-113, defendant came into her bedroom and took away the ehild, who slept with her. He returned and told her to keep quiet. She threatened to jump out of the window, but Mr. Jones caught- her arm. He was in the room for over hour, and promised to marry her. On the following Sundav evening a S'imilar I act took place. She afterward k?pt the child with her in the evening, ?ud they went- to bed together. She vvaK informed fha-t defendant had married another girl, and he oliered her £ J0. and then £ 100. In the witness box defendant raid that the st-oi-v of the girl as to what took place in'the bedroom was untrue. Deputv-Stipendiary: Do you say that what the girl has said is all ;ntnior~ Yes, it is absolute perjury, sir. Arthur Flint, barman, said he bad slept with defendant, who had never j been out of his bedroom at night. After a lengthy hearing the Deputy- Stipendiary adjudged defendant to be the father, and made an order for the payment of 5s. per week until the child is 14 years of age. ———————————
